About Floriana
The Spotlight on Floriana

Classic Italian Charm in the Heart of D.C.

Located in a beautifully restored townhouse in Dupont Circle, Floriana offers a warm, intimate setting that feels like dining in a stylish European home. The restaurant serves up elevated Italian fare made from scratch, including house-made pastas and hearty entrees, with a focus on seasonality and locally sourced ingredients. It’s a favorite for both locals and visitors looking for a cozy, flavorful experience before a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

Floriana is just a short drive or rideshare away from major D.C. music venues, making it a convenient stop for a relaxing pre-show meal. The atmosphere is vibrant but not too loud, so it’s easy to enjoy conversation before heading to a high-energy event. Service is known for being attentive and efficient—ideal if you're on a timeline. While there’s no designated pre-theater menu, the portions are generous and satisfying, helping you fuel up for a night of dancing or singing along.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share a bottle of wine and plates of pasta
  • Solo travelers seeking a welcoming bar seat and comforting meal
  • Couples planning a romantic evening that includes dinner and a show
  • Fans wanting a lively yet intimate space to get in the concert spirit
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a quality dining experience

What People Say

Reviewers rave about the authentic Italian flavors, especially the lasagna and short rib ravioli. The ambiance—with candlelit tables and views of 17th Street—gets high marks for charm. Many diners also highlight the friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are quick to offer wine pairings or accommodate special requests. Several guests note it's a hidden gem with a neighborhood feel, offering a relaxing start to an exciting night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the dining rooms are on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit tight during peak hours. Parking can also be a challenge in this busy area, so using a rideshare or Metro is a smart move. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on concert nights.

The Bottom Line

Floriana delivers comforting Italian cuisine in a cozy, stylish setting—perfect for concert-goers looking to kick off the night with great food and great vibes.

l Very mediocre food. We both had ravioli pasta did not taste homemade in fact tasted like it was reheated. Tiramisu was excellent. Small restaurant, in a student neighborhood.
