About El Silencio
The Spotlight on El Silencio

A Secret Mexican Hideaway Steps from Dublin’s Live Music

Tucked behind a secret door inside Pablo Picante in Dublin 2, El Silencio delivers a unique, speakeasy-style dining experience with bold contemporary Mexican cuisine. Located in the heart of the city and just a short stroll from many of Dublin’s leading concert venues, this hidden spot is the perfect pre- or post-show escape. The intimate underground setting features low lighting, upbeat vibes, and a cocktail-forward menu that makes it feel like you're in the know.

Why Concert-goers love it

Proximity is key – El Silencio is ideally located for grabbing a bite or cocktail before heading to a gig. The menu is designed for quick service without sacrificing quality, so you're not worrying about missing the opening act. Despite being underground, the atmosphere is anything but quiet – think buzzing energy, pulsing Latin beats, and a crowd that’s clearly ready for a night out. It’s also a nice reprieve from street-level noise, providing a tucked-away vibe just minutes from the action.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to kick off the evening with shareable plates and margaritas
  • Solo travelers wanting a cool, welcoming space to fuel up before a bucket-list show
  • Couples seeking a cozy, dimly lit spot for a more romantic pre-concert dinner
  • Fans wanting a lively, music-filled space to match their high-energy plans
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want flavor and style without breaking the bank

What People Say

Reviewers across TripAdvisor and OpenTable rave about El Silencio’s inventive tacos, craft cocktails, and cool hidden vibe. Many mention the experience of finding the secret entrance as part of the fun. Diners love the fast, friendly service and upbeat ambiance, often comparing it to a pre-party before the main event. The tequila and mezcal selection is another highlight, drawing praise from cocktail enthusiasts.

Areas for Improvement

The hidden entrance can be a bit tricky to find, especially for first-timers—some guests recommend arriving with a few extra minutes to spare. Seating is limited and space is tight, so it’s not ideal for those wanting a quiet dinner or lots of elbow room. Reservations are advised, especially on show nights.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for bold flavors, fast service, and a secretive-but-lively start to your concert night, El Silencio checks all the right boxes.

l Keep this quiet now but a great spot… delicious food and cocktails are second to known. Cool concept with quality food and experience. Only thing I would say is it’s a pricey spot for what you are...

l Enjoyed the cocktails here and the vibe, but the food wasn’t great. Birria tacos had little flavour in comparison to others I’ve had. Nonetheless, we enjoyed it for a casual meal.

l Really nice vibe, amazing tacos and great selection of drinks. Easy to find and doesn’t feel like your crammed in, even though it’s quite a small space. Will definitely be back!
