About Buddakan - Philadelphia
The Spotlight on Buddakan - Philadelphia

Dramatic Dining Meets Concert Night in Old City

Buddakan is a striking, upscale Asian fusion restaurant located in Philadelphia’s historic Old City neighborhood. Just a short walk from many of the city’s top music venues, this Stephen Starr hotspot delivers bold flavors in an equally bold setting. With its glowing lanterns, massive Buddha statue, and high-energy vibe, Buddakan is a feast for all the senses—making it a memorable start to any concert night.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and Buddakan delivers—just minutes from venues like The Fillmore and Franklin Music Hall. The energetic, yet polished atmosphere makes it a perfect pre-show spot, especially with quick and efficient service that gets you to your seat on time. While it's a popular dinner destination, the space absorbs noise well, so you can still enjoy conversation before the music starts. Plus, the shareable dishes are great for groups on a schedule.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to split bold small plates
  • Solo travelers treating themselves to a standout meal before a show
  • Couples starting their romantic night out in style
  • Fans wanting a lively, upscale atmosphere before the concert
  • Budget-conscious music fans who can opt for smaller shared dishes to keep costs down

What People Say

Guests rave about the impressive décor and the dramatic entrance that sets the tone for a special night. The edamame dumplings and wasabi-crusted filet earn repeated praise, and many say the cocktails are just as creative as the food. Diners love the vibe—lively but not chaotic—and appreciate the attentive service that keeps things flowing smoothly, even on busy nights.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviews mention that it can get a bit pricey, especially if you're tempted to try multiple dishes and cocktails. Others note that it’s a popular spot, so reservations are highly recommended to avoid long waits. And while most find the mood lively, those seeking a quiet, low-key meal might find the buzz a bit much.

The Bottom Line

Buddakan is a visually stunning, flavor-packed choice for music fans looking to elevate their concert night with a memorable meal close to the action.

l Buddakan has above average Asian and Asian Fusion fare. Only above average. The atmosphere is kind of early 2000's wanna be. Our server was great. The bartender was very good.
