Blue Ribbon Sushi brings a refined, urban vibe to Boston's Fenway neighborhood, serving up elevated sushi and Japanese small plates in a modern, understated setting. Located inside The Hotel Commonwealth, this sleek spot is just a short walk from major concert venues and Fenway Park, making it a convenient and stylish choice for pre- or post-show dining. The menu blends traditional Japanese techniques with contemporary flair, offering everything from expertly sliced sashimi to indulgent maki rolls and an impressive sake list.
Its excellent location near top music venues means you can grab a quick bite before a show without stressing about traffic or timing. Guests rave about the efficient service, which moves things along fast without feeling rushed. The relaxed yet upscale atmosphere offers a calm escape from the buzz of the city, and the bar is perfect for a round of sake or a cocktail before heading out. Reservations are recommended, especially on concert nights.
Reviews highlight the top-notch fish quality and creative rolls, with many calling it some of the best sushi in Boston. Diners love the cool, minimalist interior and the knowledgeable staff who offer great sake recommendations. Many reviewers noted the restaurant's consistency and freshness, even on busy nights.
Some guests mention that it can get pricey, especially if you're tempted by the chef’s specials and premium sake. The space can also get a bit crowded on event nights, so booking ahead is wise. A few diners wished for a more extensive vegetarian selection.
Blue Ribbon Sushi is a polished, convenient spot for music lovers craving exceptional sushi and a relaxing vibe just moments from the action.

If you are a sushi connoisseur or aficionado this probably is a decent place. For non experts like my wife and I we found the menu super expensive and non fulfilling. 15 small pieces of sushi/sashimi with a super small salmon roll for 51$. Entrees for 24$ (so small hardly anything to eat). For the price of this meal I could have eaten out at least 3 times elsewhere and not feel hungry after the meal! Also the waitress extremely pushy indirectly forcing us to consume our meal much faster than we would have liked to even though she always qualified her position by saying no rush. If no rush then why are removing the plates so quickly, emptying my soft drink into my glass, checking if my credit card was in the bill sleeve? I guess they are trained to move things along as quickly as they can so as to get more customers through hence generate more revenue for the restaurant. For the price we were paying and given that we were on vacation and going to a concert nearby later we did not appreciate this passive aggressive nature of the waitress. Will definitely not return there ever.
Liked: Nice atmosphere.
Disliked: Not value for money and waitress very pushy.
