Set within the former home of the Rowntree family - a lovely Victorian mansion with extensive gardens YHA York is just a 15-minute riverside walk to York's ancient center. This property also features a restaurant and a games room with pool table books and board games. YHA York is within the quiet residential area of Clifton a 15-minute walk from York's stunning Gothic cathedral and historic city walls. The famous Betty's Tea Rooms are a 20-minute walk away surrounded by York's excellent shops. York Dungeon and the Jorvik Viking Center are a 25-minute walk away. Liked: Rooms are clean, bed comfortable and installations are very good
Disliked: Location is a bit far from the center, but it is a small city so it is not so relevant

Liked: Free car park. Nice shower. Food and drinks tasty and good value.
Disliked: Very noisy ladies backwards and forwards between rooms late on.

The hostel is amazing value...

Liked: This my third stay here. The rooms are always very clean and comfortable. I love the location, it is great to park up at the hostel and then walk into town along the river. The cafe bar is really nice too.
Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Check in was good with lovely friendly staff. Due to high temps a fan was in our room which was a blessing. Lovely walk into York
Disliked: Couldn't turn bathroom light off so in middle of night it was a but dazzling if you had to get up!!

Exceptional

Liked: Really clean. Friendly staff. Great location (green around, space to enjoy). Easy to find. Quiet overnight. Great to have access to a kitchen. Beautiful walk into York along the river (about 20 minutes). Good facilities. Good for families.
Disliked: Our bed area was really hot. Our bed was in a mezanine area, so up high, and we stayed during a heatwave. You couldn't open windows very far due to safety. I still thought our room was great. We won't get many heatwaves like that I imagine!!

Disappointing

Liked: I like the friendly staff, the location and enjoying a drink in the outside area during such a sunny warm evening
Disliked: Cracked sink, only one pillow and tge bed was uncomfortable so we didn't sleep very well. The room was also very hot
