Haka House offers convenience &...

Liked: Haka House Wellington is located close to the CBD. Easy walking distance to the Te Papa (National Museum) and shops & cafes in Cuba Street and others only one or two blocks away. The room was very comfortable & offered space as well. I appreciated the the small table so i could easily use my laptop computer.
Disliked: Like all hostels i stayed at in New Zealand, the tea towels in the kitchen are not fresh, and usually very wet. The supply of tea towels should be refreshed more regularly. Such a simple thing, but it would be more hygienic if the tea towels were changed more frequently.

Very good

Liked: The bed was comfy and had privacy curtain. The storage and shelving in the room was very convenient. The private bathroom was nice and came with both soap and body wash.
Disliked: There's nothing in particular I didn't like. I only stayed one night though, so I didn't really use all the available facilities and can't speak to their quality.

Very good

Liked: The hostel is located in the middle of the city, in walking distance to every major sight you want to see. Right opposite to New Worlds. The kitchen area is big and there is a lot of space to cook. Also, very well equipped.Bathrooms are clean, and the showers have good pressure. The beds are very comfortable with plugs, a light and curtains for privacy The reception staff was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The rooms were too small for the number of people in them. I stayed in an 8-bed doorm room, and there was never enough space to put your luggage. You would stumbled over suitcases in the middle of the night if the lights were turned off. The whole atmosphere felt more like a huge hotel than a hostel, which made it harder to meet new people. The kitchen and dining room area was cleaned in the morning from 9 to 10, which I think is a good time, but then they would clean the dining room again around 4 pm. The staff cleaning ignored everyone sitting in the area and put the chairs on the tables to vacuum even though we were sitting there. They bumped into us but didn't seem to care. I get that they have to do their job, but they should be a little bit more considered of the people around themselves.

Conviniant location

Liked: Right access the road from new world so very close to get what I needed and just a short walk to shops
Disliked: Thin walls last night if my stay I could hear a group of girls talking through the walls with music on and almost as if they were slamming doors not sure if they were but was pretty loud and happening at 11pm at night

Nice crash pad in central...

Liked: This was one of the cheapest private rooms I could find in Wellington. Room was tiny, with a fridge, kettle and flat screen tv. OK for a few days before cabin fever sets in, but very central and across the road from a big supermarket and the harbour beyond that.
Disliked: Overall building is in not that great condition, but Haka hostels are still very cheap for what they offer. Room had a lovely view of a brick wall.

Homegrown Concert Goers

Liked: Beautiful views of Wellington Harbour. Location closest to Waitangi Park. New World across the road.
Disliked: There were no table & chairs in our room to eat on. The walls are paper thin so you can here next door
