Superb

Liked: Lovely old stone building in popular Peak District village, with lots of walking and exploring nearby. Staff excellent...went above and beyond to help me book the next nights accommodation at my next stop. Rooms basic but clean, quiet and comfortable. I was able to upgrade from dormitory to private room when I arrived.
Disliked: WiFi available but bit patchy, and no mobile phone signal in the hostel ...but I coud get phone signal (with no WiFi) down the road. This is part of being in a remote area!.

The fantastic Hartington Hall

Liked: The price, the location the building and beautiful grounds. Welcoming, friendly staff. Great self catering kitchen. We ate in restaurant too, can recommend the scampi and chips, hunters chicken too, delicious. Thank you for a superb stay, will be back one day.
Disliked: Having to leave and go home at the end of our stay!

It was a very comfortable...

Liked: The staff were very helpful upon arrival and git me settled in ok. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge room very comfortable. The grounds outdoors are just lovely.
Disliked: The kitchen is in separate building to main building. This was a nuisance if one wanted to make a cuppa or grab something to eat in late evening when dark outside.

Liked: The location was stunning. The privacy was great.
Disliked: There were ants in my room (30) and on the Sunday morning, as I was on my way to reception a member of staff approached me infront of people and informed me my card had declined. I found this very disrespectful and highly embarrassing. At reception I transferred the amount and made payment, which I was on my way to do.

Fun and good value for...

Liked: That you could enter and exit any time of day or night
Disliked: The YHA wasn't well signed from several parts of the village. E.G. as you came out of the James Cotton Hotel, the public car park near the Farm Shop etc

Excellent value for money in...

Liked: Lovely property with some lovely original features and character.
Disliked: No lift but understand it’s an old property. To be fair I didn’t enquire if there was a an accessible room on the ground floor. So there might be.
