Liked: I spent a night, staff were so friendly, there was a nice cosy cafe & bar on the ground floor and the room was good and clean.The location is perfect.
Disliked: The breakfast was normal for the charged amount.

Booking refused on arrival as...

Disliked: I am 61yrs old, semi-retired and work remotely, preferring to spend much of my time in Europe, using hotels and apartments. Consequently I do not have a permanent address. My 5 night stay at YHA was refused as they have a policy of refusing bookings from anyone without a fixed address.I suspect such a blanket ban is not legal as it discriminates against Romany Gypsies, Scottish Travellers and Irish Travellers who have protection under the 2010 Equality Act. I will be pursuing a complaint against YHA as although they eventually refunded me 3 days later, I had to book other more expensive accommodation at short notice. I found the whole experience demeaning and upsetting. I will never use YHA again, not that my booking would be accepted unless I get my own front door. There is no mention of this policy anywhere either on Booking.com nor on YHA website so I could not have known this in advance and only discovered this on the desk on arrival.
