In the Brecon Beacons National Park the YHA Danywenallt offers a restaurant and a bar. Located along superb walking routes the converted farmhouse is surrounded by wooded slopes high peaks and waterfalls. The hostel offers both private rooms and dormitory rooms. Some rooms boast private bathrooms and others share a bathroom. Guests are welcome to relax in the communal lounge with a drink from the bar. The YHA offers a catering service with dishes prepared using locally sourced produce. There is also a self-catering kitchen with a fridge where guests can store supplies a gas hob oven microwave and a toaster. This rural retreat is ideal for outdoor pursuits. The Taff Trail offers easy cycling and there are more challenging routes available towards Pen-y-Pan. Further activities include sailing and horse riding. Free private parking is available at the YHA Danywenallt.

Passable

Liked: the only positive thing was the location of the hostel and the kitchen
Disliked: it was freezing. all the windows where open (it was 8 degrees outside and raining) only small electric heater that was turned off. we turned it on but it stopped working in the evening so we could not heat the room also not dry our wet clothes. there was a green emergency light in the room you could not turn off so we needed to put a blanket over our head to be able to sleep. in the middle of the night the electric heater turned on and woke us up because it was beeping.

Great location.

Liked: location good, rooms clean and fit for purpose. Lounge could do with comfier chairs, and self catering kitchen is small. But all in all a good stay.

Very good

Liked: Gorgeous location and very helpful staff. My friend and I had a room with 2 sets of bunk beds, which was great as we could have a bottom bunk each! (Both over 60!)Plenty of crockery etc in the kitchen. Slept well, but then it was a quiet night and a big crowd was expected the next night!
Disliked: The toilet and shower room was very small, but then at least it was only for us!

Liked: Location, remoteness! Lovely and warm, clean and dry, great shower! Comfy beds, friendly staff and great breakfast!

Lovely hostel with a good...

Liked: Beautiful, quiet location with plenty of hikes. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Fairly clean with quiet rooms and a spacious lounge area. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the valley. Lots of parking space
Disliked: Dining room is a bit cramped and food options are a bit limited and not so healthy. Some facilities were not working well e.g. the hot water tap in the bathroom and one stove. The kitchen was cramped and busy a lot of the times. Lounge area is pretty cold compared with the rest of hostel.

Stayed with friends for a...

Liked: Did exactly what we needed it to do. Good breakfast and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and a good location, close to walking routes etc.
Disliked: Shower wasn't working at one point, this was only temporarily though.
