This is a really lovely...

Liked: The room was lovely with a beautiful view of the river and a really comfortable bed. The food in the restaurant was very good both for dinner and breakfast but the best thing about the stay was the staff who were al increadibly kind, helpful and so cheerful.

A nice an friendly hotel...

Liked: Breakfast has a variety of choices. A full breakfast came with additional toast. Fruit juice, tea or coffee and the Staff are very helpful and pleasant when serving it.
Disliked: It would be nice to have a small drinks chiller even if you are in the single rooms. More hangers in the wardrobe and a easy reach socket for the kettle.

Lovely staff, lovely building, comfy...

Liked: Essex accommodation is more expensive that other areas of the UK and we were on a bit of a budget. The hotel is in a beautiful location, right by the river Crouch and has a large bar that I imagine spills out onto the front in warm, sunny weather. The building itself is old and probably has many stories to tell and as a consequence the accommodation has to fit in around this. We took two rooms on a corridor with a shared bathroom and toilet. This was absolutely fine. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. There was limited space within the room but with the bar and position, we didn't want to be in there except to sleep. The staff are fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and quite prepared to pass the time of day when not busy. The breakfast was excellent with a range of traditional english options. It gets busy at breakfast becasue of non-residents wanting to eat too. The atmosphere is not formal but more homely. Limited car parking at the rear but always a space.
Disliked: Liked it all because it is a family run hotel and bar and it's old and charming, the hotel today fits in the same space and layout as the inn of yesterday. It is what it is and I can't find anything negative to say. I would/will go back without hesitation.

Quaint

Liked: Lovely old pub in a beautiful setting.A lot of history. The staff were all very friendly and so were the locals.
Disliked: Only the fact we were sharing a bathroom but it was a last minute booking and that was the only room left. However the bathroom was spotless and there was a separate toilet.

Great location but in need...

Liked: The location
Disliked: The bathroom needs complete modernisation. The room was ‘tired’ and needed a revamp.
