The Spotlight on Ye Olde Griffin

Historic Charm Meets Late-Night Energy in Central March

Modern comforts meet old-world character at Ye Olde Griffin, a newly refurbished coaching inn right in the heart of March. With its warm, relaxed pub atmosphere, free Wi-Fi, and weekend entertainment, this hotel blends traditional charm with lively social energy. It's a solid base for exploring the Fens, Cambridge, or nearby Peterborough—and ideal if you're in town to catch a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Situated on High Street, Ye Olde Griffin is within easy reach of local venues and late-night transport options. Music lovers will appreciate the on-site entertainment, karaoke, and live music—especially on weekends when the party goes until 2 AM. Not a night owl? The hotel offers free earplugs and the option to request a quieter room, so you can still get your rest after the encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want food, drinks, and music all in one place
  • Solo travelers catching a dream gig
  • Couples making a weekend getaway out of a concert night
  • Fans seeking a quieter recovery—just ask for a quiet room
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want atmosphere and comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site pub serves hearty meals and classic favorites—ideal before or after the show. While there's no 24-hour room service, the bar is open late on weekends, and local dining spots are just steps away. With a relaxed breakfast setup, you won’t have to rush after a late night.

Nightlife Options

Expect a lively vibe on site, especially with live music Saturdays and karaoke Sundays. The pub shows major sports events and draws a friendly crowd. For those looking to take the night further, local bars and lounges are within walking distance.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, central location, and character-filled pub. Reviews often highlight the convenience for events, the generous pub portions, and the option to enjoy or avoid the nightlife depending on your vibe. Many appreciate the free earplugs and the fact that rooms are clean and cozy.

Areas for Improvement

Weekend noise is part of the charm—but not for everyone. If you're a light sleeper, be sure to ask for a room away from the bar. Rooms vary in size and decor, and some guests noted that the Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain spots.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a place that combines live music, local flavor, and flexible comforts, Ye Olde Griffin hits all the right notes for concert-goers.

Very comfortable

Liked: Comfy room, all facilities and a double sheet to substitute the duvet in hot weather. A variety for breakfast, I had a bacon and sausage sandwich done to perfection.
Disliked: Saturday night is normally disco night with ear plugs supplied along with the tea/coffee in the room. The night I stayed it was boxing which went quiet at 11pm just as I was ready to sleep.

Liked: Ye olde griffin is a lovely, olde worldy pub hotel, with things going on throughout the week. No lift from what I could see.
Disliked: Limited car park space but there is a car park 200 yards away.

Liked: The staff are always friendly and the hotel bar/garden inviting
Disliked: Unfortunately the single bed I had was awfully uncomfortable so sleep was minimal. Our room was next to the garden- this is not a problem, however it had been 28 degrees and all hotel windows were open due to no air con- I would have expected the cleaner outside to be aware of this rather than banging about and making enough noise to wake us after an already uncomfortable night. The fire alarm went off after midnight- there was no communication about this, nobody left their rooms and no staff came round.

Great little place for a...

Liked: Lovely olde pub, things happening to join in, decent pub grub. Friendly, accommodating staff. Clean. The town/village is lovely: fair amenities close by ( library, supermarket, coffee shops, even a fossil museum!)
Disliked: A teensy bit noisy when they had live music, but they do offer you earplugs incase it bothers you!
