A dreadful way to spend...

Disliked: Very disappointing for an allegedly four-star hotel: the food times were different to those advertised online, the light in the lift was broken (so it was pitch black), as were the doors which needed to be manhandled when being opened or fully closed. The room itself was freezing cold and no staff were on reception to help. I was eventually pointed to a cupboard filled with electric heaters, suggesting this was a known issue… The hairdryer did not work. The chef was late the next morning, meaning my pre-booked breakfast was served (cold and) half a hour after the agreed time. No response to my in-person or emailed complaints.

Underwhelming stay due to staff,...

Liked: The room was very nice, had to go up a staircase into a loft room which felt very secluded and safe which is what we wanted. The lady who saw us before we checked in did a good job of informing us about the area and where to visit locally
Disliked: They didn't specify when breakfast was so we ended up late and missing it. After being sent by another member of staff to the restaurant area 5 minutes before saying that's where we get our breakfast. We were ignored the night before by staff as well when wanting to get dinner in the on site restaurant. Such poor service we ended up going elsewhere. The outside grounds looked very run down and abandoned, lots of rubbish and old furniture just thrown about the grounds.

Liked: Location, breakfast, and staff. Room was also clean.
Disliked: Toilet not flushing properly, having to move two rooms because of water leakThis was our second visit to Wroxall Abbey. The first visit was fine but this time we feel standards has dropped a little.

Beautiful..but disappointing

Liked: Hotel and grounds are beautiful. Bathrooms have been updated and are clean and modern. Staff is friendly.
Disliked: We booked a family room, but the sleeper couch had not been made up before arrival. The shower drain was blocked so the floor got wet when we tried to shower. Air-conditioning wasn't working. TV remote batteries clearly flat. Level of cleanliness (floors, surfaces) not the best. Such a pity as it's a beautiful hotel. Very disappointed in our experience and hope management can address the details better for future guests.
