Fab location and loads to...

Liked: Wortley Hall is in a fab location. Beautiful grounds, easy parking and very quiet. It's a very grand building with lots of history to soak up. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The rooms themselves are a good size (we went for the Junior Suite this time). Bathroom good size as well. Good choice of streaming on TV.
Disliked: Our bed comfort experience over our 2 visits to this hotel haven't been great. The mattresses are very firm and the pillows aren't the best. The shower could have done with a bit of maintenance as was blocking intermittently and also blocked on the rainfall shower head.

Very good

Liked: Hotel and Gardens lovely, inside a bit tired looking but only to be expected of an old property. Our room had a strange smell, but as soon as it was mentioned, Zara put us into another room, which was lovely and had the most amazing deep bath. Staff couldn't be more helpful and all very friendly. Was lovely chatting to Zara. Breakfast was good, nice selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cooked. Only half hour away from the Yorkshire sculpture park, and an hour from York which we visited. Would definitely go back to stay there again.
Disliked: Don't think there was anything we didn't like apart from children running about shouting at 7am but no fault of the hotel.

awful

Liked: no
Disliked: we left after being there an hour the room quality was appalling there was stains in the bed stains in the bath, dead bugs all in one corner, flies everywhere when we pulled the covers back on the bed a fly flew out it was horrible and when asked for an upgrade was told they can’t do anything so me and my partner found somewhere else for the night

A real mix but more...

Liked: Very characterful property with an intriguing history and a beautiful garden. In places it’s been updated - excellent showers, for example. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff.
Disliked: We arrived at about 10pm and could not get in. The front door was shut and either locked or jammed, no one on the desk and no one answered the phone. We had to walk round the house and bang on the window to attract attention. It’s a bit fusty smelling and grubby in places. Could do with soap dish in the showers and more towel rails.

This fascinating hotel in a...

Liked: Breakfast very good. Room better than adequate, although bathroom tiny. Staff friendly and helpful. Grounds beautiful, a definite bonus. Helpful signs to ballroom (my event). Staff coped well with the high number of guests at our event. The history of the house and its use for union, labor and cooperative movement events is very interesting. I wish they had made more of that, even selling a little souvenir booklet.
Disliked: The layout of the hotel is very confusing! I would have liked either hand-out maps, or posted You Are Here maps at each corner, or a little guest handbook. The breakfast times we were told, and that were in the Welcome book in the room were not the same. I wish they had updated all the places with that info when it changed. The website mentioned a bus from Sheffield central bus station but didn't warn that it runs very infrequently (one in early morning, several in early evening, nothing in the main part of the day).

An amazing building with fantastic...

Liked: The history and ability to have a look around such an old building and gardens. The room was a good size
Disliked: The mattresses were old and tired, I could feel every spring. The bathroom is a little tight for a man of good stature (shall we say). The toilet emitted a constant hissing noise.

A relative rest

Liked: I booked a 2 night stay for my uncle who assured me that the staff treated him kindly, the room was lovely, the breakfast hearty, the bar meal tasty and the hall and grounds are stunning. Thankyou
Disliked: No complaints
