Lovely period building in stunning...

Liked: Fantastic period building in a stunning location. Lovely to see all the little old touches inside and the local history photos on the walls Staff were lovely, super helpful and welcoming.
Disliked: Being an older building the shower / bathroon was a bit small, but of course that comes with the architecture.Really not a problem just i guess spending time in modern buildings you get spoiled with slightly bigger bathrooms

Superb

Liked: I loved the location - Hovingham is picture perfect. Beautiful countryside and surroundings. The hotel, despite being a little "tired" in decor it offered old school charm. We dined in restaurant - lovely meal and lovely lively atmosphere. Excellent customer service and delicious breakfast. Best part was an excellent night's sleep!
Disliked: Struggling to find anything we didn't like really. Maybe some modernisation as bedrooms were a bit outdated.

Lovely place in nice village

Liked: Nice building, village location, comfy bed, ensuite. Friendly staff.
Disliked: The bathroom needs window frosting or a blind, we had an evening meal in the restaurant, we both had steak pie, but the pastry was quite overdone and didn't meet our expectations overall.

Great location for travelling but...

Liked: The location was so convenient for visiting York and Castle Howard. The village of Hovingham is extremely nice.
Disliked: We were in a cottage opposite the hotel and adjacent to a rather busy road, which carried heavy farming lorries and machinery traffic from as early as 04.00.The room itself was tired, I'll say no more.

Very good

Liked: The management the staff were very helpful and friendly . The breakfast was exceptional we ate in the evening and it was excellent
Disliked: The hotel was splendid but very tired We had a double room number two We were there during heat wave and the room was airless the window could not be opened and there was no ventilation. I would stay there again but would probably a little more for a room with ventilation I would say that the hotel is situated in a very beautiful village and we enjoyed the walk around it

Great location and friendly venue

Liked: Great location for exploring North Yorkshire. Friendly staff (and locals) and a good food offering.
Disliked: The hotel is a little tired, but that dormant detractor from its appeal
