Liked: Room was very comfortable, quiet and well appointed. Cooked breakfast was of exceptional quality.Staff very friendly and welcoming.Dog friendly.
Disliked: The computerised meal ordering system seemed to have failings so only one of our starters arrived and that was only after a long wait. We weren't in a hurry anyway but maybe they were just short-staffed that night.

OK - just!

Liked: Location was very good for our purposes. Car park satisfactory.
Disliked: Room with double bed against the wall i.e. with access from one side only, without bedside tables, and situated in what looks like an extension to the original building - ours was the furthest room from the main hotel building. It was hot that evening and night, so the radiator we could not turn off in our room adding to the heat was somewhat unnecessary!Breakfast was akin to the curate's egg - it could have been good, but was let down by a toaster devoid of instructions, bread which was not good for toasting and resultant burnt offerings!

Disliked: Terrible food. Soggy frozen fish. Dry re-heated mushy peas. Triple cooked chips, not freshly cooked

Totally unsatisfactory, unprofessional and tedious...

Liked: The terrace, the lawns sweeping down to the lake, the interesting stylish public areas, the housekeeping staff and the serving staff. The fans.
Disliked: A lot! The administration, the management, the terrible rooms, tiny, no storage, not one shelf, not even for towels above shower, a half wardrobe not full length, no door, no drawers, nowhere to put cases, nowhere to put toiletries, cistern had loo roll dispenser on top of it, very very cheap toilet seat, uncomfortable pillows, the dead plants, the cigarette butts in the planters, the kitchen rubbish and old beer barrels outside rooms 24-30. No hot water in one of the three rooms my mother had to stay in. Mediocre dinners. Horrible rubbery frozen seafood in the linguine. Lame excuses like ‘gardeners are expensive’!! when asked why plants were dead. Check in a complete mess despite calling them twice to explain the allocation of the 3 rooms I had booked. They blamed booking.com despite my confirmations from that site being completely accurate. Unbelievable not to make up guest rooms they just chuck a couple more towels on the unmade bed and leave. Presumably housekeeping is expensive too. I have never stayed anywhere that is so badly managed.

Liked: Nice hotel and pub, the roo..was perfect for us to.stay with the pooch. The bed, bowl.and treat box were amazing!!
Disliked: Little bit pricey for food and drink. Noise upstairs room during the night, which sounded like hotel staff was annoying.

A pleasant stay

Liked: Needed an overnight stop near to Guildford. This fitted the bill. A nice welcome from friendly staff. Had a garden room with a small sitting area just outside the room which was nice and screened off from the next door room (though needs another screen on the pub side), Excellent snack tray and tea/coffee facilities. Comfy bed/pillows. Really appreciated the fan in the room. Large shower with nice toiletries provided and soft towels. Large car park. Large pub which looked good but we didn’t use it so can’t comment. Would be happy to stay again.
Disliked: Reception is based in the pub which isn’t clear from the outside. Directed at first to the wrong part of the hotel for our room but staff were friendly and helpful and spent time to show us our room once the mistake was pointed out. Not a good impression of the room to begin with - postioned by the rear doors to the kitchen and the bins. They’ve tried to make it better with screens but doesn’t really work. On entering the room there was an empty coke can and tissues in the toilet. On showering the shower is positioned too close to the open section of the screen so the floor becomes very wet. The vent fan is postioned across the room from the shower so the room steams up a lot. Needs some shelves/storage for personal toiletries. Hanging rail missing from the wardrobe. No electric point by bed.
