Pleasant but not ‘luxury spa’
Liked: Pretty looking hotel and very friendly staff
Disliked: The interior was very bland and felt ‘corporate’. It didn’t have the Edwardian feel on the inside. The walls in my room were paper thin- I could hear people swimming in the pool below me and the people in the room next door may as well have been in my room. They weren’t noisy but I could hear everything.

Poor
Liked: The bed was clean and comfortable
Disliked: Being charged from 2 different companies, then reimbursed on the original charge. Soon as you walked in there was a fusty smell from damp. There is a £10 charge per person to use the swimming pool and the hot tub doesn't work

Not recommended for families
Liked: The rooms were an adequate size with en suite showers and tea and coffee making facilities. My husband thought the pillows were alright.
Disliked: This property came up in a search for my 2+2 family. However, upon booking, it transpired that there were no adjoining rooms and that children must be accompanied by an adult, meaning my husband and I had to sleep in separate rooms, each with a child. When I called the venue in advance to explain that this was not going to work, they refused to refund the booking due to booking a non-refundable rate. After booking, I also noticed that the venue's website informs travellers that where bookings are made directly, the use of the leisure facilities is included. In our case, having booked via booking.com, there was going to be an additional charge of £10/ adult and £5/ child. We didn't swim. Breakfast was also at an additional charge, which was fine, but upon settling the bill, I realised that we had been charged £4 for my 5 year old to have a small bowl of Rice Krispies. The overall experience, from start to end, was a disappointment. The venue does not accommodate families with young children, and if you are going to book, it's probably a better experience to book directly with them.Very unsatisfied customer.

Ok
Liked: The outside of the property is absolutely stunning.
Disliked: I bought my partner here for his birthday. I agree with most of the reviews it’s just very dated. Rooms could be stunning but more standard. I wasn’t aware that booking through booking.com the whole balance of £222 would be taken as “pending” until we checked in & they pointed out I needed to pay, told them I already have & they told me how it would just be pending. So the whole weekend we stayed, we was then £222 down. I’ve never experienced this with booking.com I’ve experienced deposits etc but never a pending transaction for the amount of the whole stay to then have to pay anyway why I’m there. Staff was friendly & informative on where to go. We didn’t spend much time here though.
