Pleasant
Liked: On Entry to hotel reception it smelt very musty. After tattling the stairs to bedroom the smell didn't get any better. The mattress was poor it was like just sleeping on the base.Bathroom is in need of a make over.Inside the wardrobe was a item of ladies underwear which did not belong to me.If this hotel is a wedding venue I would recommend it.

Decent enough but rooms need...
Liked: Decent enough for the night we stayed. Nice pics of dining and bar facilities on thr site but both closed so we couldn’t even sit out in the lovely garden for a drink (maybe staff can pop in to bar periodically instead of closing it Very run down in the bedroom (ceiling cracking and co centre it would split). Fire escape blocked as ivy had grown over it. Aesthetics over safety? Dangerous in a fire. Needs a lot of work and o make it good and safe.

Disappointing
Liked: There was a cigarette butt on the floor next to my bed. There was only small towels in the room. The room smelt old and the coffee in the room was really horrible.

Not again!!!
Liked: Lovely looking building and grounds were nice.Stayed in February for wedding.Safe were friendly.
Disliked: Cold throughout the whole building, very dated could do with modernising. Room we were in radiator didn’t work, so very cold, we had a bath in our room which wasn’t ideal or very pleasant looking water was only warm too. No radiator in the bathroom so was very cold indeed. The above door heater didn’t work in the bathroom. A big cupboard in the bathroom when opened was just an empty void with old pipes and cables and dirty looking. Would have been better to have this locked. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2 as place was not a very warm place and not much atmosphere as the small bar was not open. (Not sure if this was a seasonal thing)I did speak to the manager who moved us to another room that was better and had a shower. Why we couldn’t have that room from the start who knows.!!!I know what you paid for is what you get but a bit of warmth would of made out stay that little more bearable. The 3rd night I booked a Premier Inn with hot water and a good shower.

Very disappointing
Disliked: Reception was empty and locked up on arrival. Had to call number on window. Bedding and towels had washed in stains. Glasses had mold spores on when served at bar. The UHT milk in room for coffee was 4 months out of date. And our room was directly above function room that had a loud party till early hours. On check out reception was empty again and couldn’t find staff so left key on desk.

Take heaters if attending this...
Liked: The setting was very pretty.
Disliked: No heating all weekend, no hot water. Not helpful at putting heating on. Was told it was on a timer and we could have an extra duvet if we needed. No sleep on the Friday. Had to sit in the car from 7am and checked out at 10.30 and booked somewhere else. Had to go back to venue as son was getting married there and still no heating. All guests were freezing. Would never recommend this venue. Other guests chose to stick it out after changing rooms and were still cold with no hot water.
