Upon entering the room, it...

Liked: No complimentary breakfast, no ice machine, no vending machines.
Disliked: No complimentary breakfast, no ice machine, no vending machines. Could not use the outdoor deck area. Got stung by a wasp from the paper wasp nest on the door head. Manager said that he would remove but didn't.

Wonderful few days

Liked: Was wonderful. Fire pits, BBQ, clean.

A lovely, historic place to...

Liked: Located right off of Highway 23, the facility was easy to find. The room was incredibly clean and well-maintained. The grounds are very relaxed with established plantings, a firepit, and grills. The staff was very attentive and efficient. I called for extras towels and they were delivered in less than 5 minutes.
Disliked: Some small additions would be helpful...a towel bar next to the bathroom sink, a few more hooks in the bathroom for towels or a towel bar, an extra bar of soap for the shower. I'm not sure where to put this, but the room I booked was not the room we were put in (a queen size bed rather than a king size). I called staff and they offered to show us another room which ended up being perfect. So even though the initial room wasn't what I booked, staff made it right very quickly.

Liked: I booked this stay based on the reviews, so I wanted to leave one also. My husband and I drove up to Duluth for the night so that we would be closer to the camp our son and the rest of the church youth were at. We needed to pick them up early in the morning, and a close stay made for a much better day than driving up 4 hours in the morning! This was exactly the moderate budget room we needed, but so much more! The motel staff was incredibly helpful and kind, and the property is immaculately maintained. We took the last room, which was the king jacuzzi suite. Not sad about that. The room had a little deck off the back with access to the beautiful backyard space the owners have created. There are two barbeque stations and a fire pit that has comfy seating around it-fire wood provided for free! The room was sparkling clean, and the effort to keep up the older property shows. My husband was not a fan of the very soft bed, and because of that slept poorly. It's the only negative we experienced. We even made use of the free Lake Superior Zoo passes. I would definitely come back to spend another night or two to explore Duluth in a new way of the bikes they provide and reading on the back deck. I absolutely recommend this quaint motel to any travel that enjoys a slow quiet stay, knowledgeable and kind owners, and a touch of nostalgia.
Disliked: Bed was too soft for the husband, but I was a fan. The bedding was new and very clean.

Quiet, relaxing, beautiful grounds Loved...

Liked: Did not have breakfast. But had a hot dog,chips,beans and coke. A nice surprise. Hit the spot.
Disliked: Could not use the TV. Couldn’t figure out the remote or wondered if it needed batteries. No one around and did not feel it was important to call the number for after hours
