Hotel needs a thorough refurb

Liked: Breakdast was good. Location was good for us
Disliked: Room decor was poor. Lots of scuff marks on walls and paintwork. Mould on walls and shower screen in bathroom. Carpet grubby looking. Carpets on corridors are threadbare in parts. TV did not work

Disliked: When we first arrived, we weren’t even greeted with an hello from the receptionist. We seemed to have disturbed her tea break. She isn’t the person to have front of house in my opinion. We booked a room next to our family, and that didn’t happen. We were put on the first floor. She didn’t seem to mind that we had pre booked with this information. There are no lifts. The bannisters are unstable and are not fit for purpose, this is both bannisters, an accident waiting to happen. The room was spacious and welcoming at first but on closer inspection through our visit we noticed cob webs and dust over the curtains and bed and what seemed to be wiped vomit stains on the purple walls adjacent to the bathroom. There were 2 moths under the pillow on the single bed. Mould and mildew in the shower which came off when I actually ran the hot water over it. No non slip bath mat in the bath, no handrail or any safety features in sight in the bathroom.Carpet was damp at the entrance to the bathroom. The receptionist asked us if we would be using the restaurant so she could let the kitchen know, and we said we would, and she advised us the 8:30 was last orders so we arrived at 8 to the restaurant to be greeted with “ you didn’t book the restaurant “, there were 6 of us, so we were seated in the end, but felt unwelcome from the start. We ordered our food and drink , which there were a few mistakes with, but there was a young girl who seemed to be threw in at the deep end and didn’t have much experience so she seemed confused with everything, and needed to go back to the kitchen and ask the questions we had asked ! Quiet annoying. Food looked great on the menu and we tried various dishes. I wouldn’t rate them, the fish and chips seemed to be the best choice! Overall quite disappointing. Breakfast the next morning was a good pleasant experience, we had an older gentleman waiting on our table and he was a pleasure, the rest of the staff could learn a thing or two from him !

Good parking, good room, friendly...

Liked: Staff were very friendly, parking was excellent and the room was large and comfortable.
Disliked: Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Pleasantly surprised to see vegan option, but the quality was average, the coffee not very nice, and cleanliness a bit so-so. At £12 (pre-booked, otherwise £14) per person we had expected a bit more.

Disliked: We have been staying here over the last 4 years and have noticed that the decor and especially the bathrooms are looking tired and in need of a refresh

Liked: staff in the hotel food and beverage were awesome. We had breakfast and it was great. we had a few drinks at the bar each night and this was very comforatble and inviting place.
Disliked: nothing really, it was all very pleasent.
