White Horse Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay. It was a shame we were in the separate annex due, we were told, to us wanting a double, even though we booked some time ago. However it was very comfortable. The lunch and breakfast were very nice indeed and it was a shame we had to leave!

Liked: Very nice atmosphere. Lovely staff. Very comfortable bed!
Disliked: Only one negative - chilly bedroom and difficult to get to the thermostat on radiator so not sure if it was even working.

Exceptional

Nice place to stay if...

Liked: Very convenient for us. Large friendly bar & restaurant. Good sized room & bathroom. All very clean.
Disliked: Our bedroom was very hot, but it was probably the hottest days of the year so far and they did provide fans for the room.

Superb

Nice pub/hotel in a good...

Liked: Hotel itself is lovely and rooms nicely decorated. Didn’t dine here but staff were also nice/polite at the bar and reception.
Disliked: Our room was on the main road and it was very noisy - we wore the ear plugs that the hotel provided. The hall door/fire door between our room (room 3) and other rooms slammed shut multiple times in the night waking us up. This could be made quieter and maybe investing in some better glazed windows for the ground floor rooms on the main road.

Superb

Liked: I was impressed by the staff and the rooms. Also the restaurant and bar was very good. The staff were young but trained well and excellent service.
Disliked: It wasn't the fault of the hotel but we visited on an extremely hot day and unfortunately the rooms were unbearably hot. The manager showed me another room but it was just as hot. There were fans in the room and the doors had been left open to let the room cool but unfortunately that didn't work. It's a refurbished old hotel so I doubt any more can be done to solve the problem. It's rare that the weather is so extreme. The staff tried their hardest to offer a solution.

Relaxed, special but too short!

Liked: It was such a cosy hotel, with a beautiful interior. The staff were all lovely, especially the lady who checked us in- I forgot to get her name. Good location too! Everyone we spoke to from Dorking, said it was a lovely hotel.
Disliked: No air conditioning, we really struggled to sleep because of how hot our room was. I think particularly where our room was located, it was so hot. The staff did put a fan in there and kept the door wedged open ahead of our arrival. We did stay during the hottest day! But it was unbearably hot in the room.
