Three lovely days in Oxfordshire...
Liked: We had quite a large comfortable room with a very comfortable large bed and although our room was on the front of the hotel the street has very little traffic so it was quiet. The food was excellent, great choice for breakfast and staff were really attentive and friendly .Also our little dog Betsy was made very welcome and we are planning to go back there .

Lovely hotel but same about...
Liked: The hotel is in a lovely setting and is lovely and quiet.
Disliked: Unfortunately the check in and check out staff were not very friendly. I had not been to this hotel before and there wasn’t anyone on reception, there was no notice and I had another guest tell me that I had to check in at the bar. When I did check in all I got was a gentleman giving me the key and telling me the room is out in the car park up the stairs and on the left. Turns out it was in the next building, which I originally thought was a neighbouring house. Check out wasn’t any better. The hotel is lovely but it was a same that there was no welcome or even a thanks for staying.

My room and bathroom were...
Liked: Staff were friendly but the breakfast staff were young and lacked training. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious. It is a very pretty village.
Disliked: The bedroom carpet was really dirty and felt awful to walk on barefoot. The bedroom furniture was scratched and the varnish rubbed off in a large area on the top surface of the desk. The bathroom flooded when I took a shower, which must have happened before because the woodwork around the sink was rotten through past saturations. The sink had faint cracks in the bowl and the waste was blocked and took a long time to clear. The chrome plating was missing from the toilet roll holder. The waste bin was covered in rust and should have been replaced a long time ago. There was mould in the shower. The joints in the woodwork around the sink unit were similarly mouldy and cracked. There was a furry dog basket with treats and a water bowl in the bedroom and whilst I understand and commend the hotel be being dog friendly had no relevance for me as I didn't have a dog with me. When I said that the room was very tired on checking out, I was told "oh yes it's the next one to be refurbished" but no apology of any sort was given nor was I asked what I was unhappy about.

We were well looked after,...
Liked: The Manager, Jonathon, was very welcoming and the Inn has a lot of character and some beautiful rooms - our initial room had plenty of space for getting the Bridal party ready, the groom's room in a separate little house was well appointed and the bridesmaids had a lovely room at the front of the hotel - there was some confusion when first checking in, as an additional booking hadn't been registered when we booked it in person following the initial booking.com booking, but it was quickly sorted out by Jonathon. We also had a very good dinner for 10 the night before, on short notice, although it did take a while to arrive but that was understandable. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given a very elaborately decorated room for our actual wedding night, which was all part of the fun - a very enjoyable stay was had by all, and definitely added to making our wedding that much more easier and special - would definitely recommend.
Disliked: That the booking made in person hadn't been processed, but the issue was quickly sorted out and we were also given some complimentary drinks to make up for the error. The furniture in the Dorchester room is quite dated but I understand most rooms are now being refurbished.
