Come on Marston's. What's going...

Liked: Welcoming staff. Good location near pedestrian high street with bars, coffee shops and restaurants. 5 mins from A303. Comfortable and quiet bedroom with tea and coffee
Disliked: Building desperately in need of tlc. Breakfast was only just OK. Had to go up to the bar to order and pay. Strange in a hotel. Shower leaked onto floor despite screen. Compared to other places in town prices at the bar are on the high side ie overpriced.

Good modest hotel. 2 nights...

Liked: Room good, staff friendly and effective. Parking worked well.
Disliked: Had one meal of steak. It was terrible. The steak looked like scrag end of something not beef. It was tasteless and soooo tough. It ensured we did not have a breakfast there. We went to Wetherspoons.

Disappointed

Liked: Onsite parking was perfect. It is located within the town so plenty of eateries close by but noise didn't effect us being a busy Saturday night The bed itself was comfortable and a fan was provided as it was extraordinarily hot in the room.
Disliked: The rooms themselves were in need of some attention in regard to their condition. Unfortunately the shower gel container was empty and the bathroom didn't feel especially clean. Tried to book a table prior to our visit and it is an automated booking system and it said a slot was unavailable for a chosen time so having then placed an enquiry I had no reply to that via text or through messaging on booking. On arrival we booked breakfast for the following morning however unfortunately we then chose not to eat as the coffee machine didn't work and it was the same instant coffee as supplied in the room and cups were not the cleanest.I feel that the room as provided wasn't the best value. I am particular though so it may suit others.

probably wouldn't stay here again

Liked: The location was good and some of the staff were friendly and helpful particularly the woman at breakfast.
Disliked: Our room had a hole in the wall which needed repairing and the blind in our room was very dirty and stained which was offputting. The whole building is very old and in much need of an upgrade. We had booked to stay for two nights but left after one as it was too grubby and offputting.

Ok for a base. get...

Liked: Good location, with parking. Although I feel I got lucky with a space. The town is on the doorstep and there some other great pubs within walking distance to visit. Room was ok. The food prices looked reasonable, for a chain pub. But I ate elsewhere.
Disliked: The beer prices were extortionate, no wonder it was an empty bar (the rest of town was buzzing for a Friday night). Despite 'Pedigree' being Marston's signature beer, not a drop to be seen in this establishment. This seems to be a theme with Marston's Hotels. Don't put our best beer on for sale. Rooms ok, but a bit tired. Creaky floorboards and rattly pipes are to be expected in an old building, so the warning notice says. Two teabags, but half a dozen coffee sachets, I'm sure I could have asked for more. But, couldn't be bothered going back downstairs.
