Soured our Anniversary
Liked: The hotel room was nice and spacious, with a very comfortable bed. Even though I got the island view, it was private and nice (but not soundproof) with a tiny glimpse of the ocean. Katia at the front desk/billing was very helpful and nice, going out of her way to try to help with a Westin billing mixup. The fish tacos at View 36 were tasty (but the sangria was awful).
Disliked: This was our 19th wedding anniversary. We wanted to spend it at a nice hotel on the beach for just two days. I wish I had chosen elsewhere. Frankly, except for the room, this feels like a glorified Holiday Inn. Cheap-looking pool area, crowded and cluttered, with most of the main pool seating reserved for extra pay (same chairs, just with cushions). No adult-only pool. The hot tub wasn't hot or even warm, and full of little kids. The chlorine smell could knock you unconscious. None of the seating has views of the beach, and beach chairs are not included with the steep resort fee.The breakfast was mediocre: sour milk for my cereal, stale muffins, soggy hash browns, super-runny scrambled eggs, and, except for the omelet station, nothing appetizing. Room service kept missing things: no robes or slippers in the room, no water, only two towels in the bathroom, and the plumbing in the room was off, toilet instantly clogged, so we were having to call every day to get things that should have been working or there when we got there. The cherry on top of it all: I was billed twice for the stay, even though I had already prepaid with Booking.com. I called, but they only approved a partial refund, as it seems there was some mix-up between Booking.com and Westin, and I'm paying for it. I spent hours on the phone, but still being. charged twice the resort fees and twice the taxes and more. Very unprofessional, unpleasant, and unnecessary, especially for a Marriott chain.Surprise hidden charges like beach preservation tax (!!!!) on top of occupancy and room tax. Self-parking is for an added charge!!! The self-park area had only two disabled parking spaces, so far from the entrance of the resort that it was better to park elsewhere. There were more disabled parking spaces in the valet parking area - maybe the valet is disabled? This alone should cost the hotel a star rating. No disabled person could get into the pools with those steps. Not worth it. Never again.

Disappointing and the food wasn’t...
Liked: Some of the staff weren’t helpful, when I complained about my ocean view that it was just a glimpse on the horizon they said I should’ve asked for a front ocean view, not heard of that one usually it’s qualities as part view.
Disliked: I don’t think they’re really geared up for foreign tourists, most were from the area or Americans didn’t bump into anybody else out of the Americas

Based on this experience we...
Liked: So many things to offer right here at the resort!
Disliked: That you had to pay to sit to reserve a chair down by the beach

Disliked: We were hoping for more of an ocean view instead of just a sliver of a view between the trees.

It was nice, but not...
Liked: Beautiful location on the ocean. Easy to get around, find restaurants, amenities.
Disliked: It needs repairs in the rooms (loose tile and spackled, unpainted ceiling in the bathroom) and on the exterior (stucco falling off of the balcony walls, rotting timbers above the balcony). We had an oceanfront room and expected, for the price, that it would be perfect. The decor could use updating, as well.
