Liked: The staff are very welcoming and friendly offering a piece of carrot cake as a welcome treat. The Molton Brown goodies are always welcome, as were the good selection of teas, coffees and biscuits provided in the room. The room was spacious, comfortable and a pleasant although slightly nondescript decor. The bed large with sumptuous pillows and thankfully a proper duvet rather than the cheap and nasty ones so oft used in bigger hotels. The dinner was good although see comments below. The staff attentive and the Maitre D knowledgeable and friendly
Disliked: The dinner menu was adequate but not particularly extensive although the choice of fish and chips was a good one. A good wine list with plenty of choice for both pallet and budget

Liked: Although it was less than a mile from the A1, the hotel was set in quiet grounds with a lovely garden. The hotel facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Hard to find any fault.
