Liked: Croissant kisch Lorraine and fruit salad in the breakfast.
Disliked: The hotel pretends to be something that it is not. European style 4 star hotel. For sure, it has not European standards for a 4 star hotel. Major problem there is no refrigerators in the room. Since I am using some medicine that need to be kept cool, I carry some ice packs. I asked the receptionist to put them in the freezer in order to become solid ice, and although she said se understood, she just put them in a regular refrigerator so when I collected them they were not frozen but just liquid. The afternoon receptionist was quite indifferent. We had booked 3 months in advance a specific room. Without mentioning anything she allocated to us, a different, inferior according to me. When we produced written proof of our reservation, she carefully moved out of hearing distance in order to call her supervisor. She offered another room , which we accepted, and a bottle of wine ,which they tried to forget, but we reminded them on check out. Overall, below are our expectations.

Liked: The location is very nice, as it is near to the major attractions, but not right next to them. The flights of wine that were included with our booking were excellent.
Disliked: The entire compound (hotel, winery, restaurant) is quite run-down. It is a shame, as the hotel is a unique and historic old building that should be really nice.If you eat in the restaurant, be aware that the portions are not large. If you are a big eater, you won't be full eating just a dinner.I also had a billing dispute. I'm not sure if it was the hotel or Booking.com who screwed up, but the clerk at the hotel was not helpful. Booking.com did a good job straightening out my problem and issuing a refund.

A restful break in a...

Liked: Quiet spot in the vineyard not too far from Williamsburg. Excellent food at the tavern attached to the winery.
Disliked: Everything at the hotel was great. We had a lot of trouble, though, contacting them by phone before arrival. On the Booking.com website we could not find a number for the hotel that answered us. We kept being transferred to an automated central booking line and we could never get through to a human. When we finally realized that the hotel is associated with the winery, we found the winery website where there was a number that worked for the hotel. Surely it should not be so difficult to call a hotel where we have a reservation!
