A lovely hotel and a...

Liked: The hotel itself is lovely. We have stayed there a number of times in our chosen part of the hotel. Unfortunately we were unable to stay in one of these rooms and were allocated an upstairs room instead. It was a searingly hot spell and we were unable to open the windows as there were bees outside. Having said that, we spoke to the staff about this problem and they were amazing. They moved us to another room which was not as hot and we were able to open the windows. So, something I really like about the hotel is the caring accommodating staff. The score would most likely have been 9 if we had been in one of our usual rooms.
Disliked: The restaurant menu has been greatly reduced since our last visit in the autumn of 2024.

Liked: Staff very helpful and friendly. Always tried to resolve issues. Location very pretty. Food in resturant very nice .
Disliked: Felt pool should be included in stay and not charged. If there is a wedding, not to put you under the wedding reception with music until 12pm. Appreciate did try and offer a new room but it was 10pm and did receive a 10% discount thank you. Fan needed in room.

4star hotel - 2nd class...

Liked: The grounds were beautiful and the hotel was attractive. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
Disliked: The majority of staff were amateurish and unhelpful. There was literally one member of staff who was helpful (I didn’t catch his name unfortunately). The Reception was poor and practically monosyllabic. We were not allowed to check in early (I had elderly parents with me and were under time pressure) - she made no effort to check if the lodge was ready, just told me to come back at 3 (when the queue was huge). I have had better service at a Premier Inn. We stayed in the lodge which had very steep steps - at the top of the step were bin bags full of rubbish - a couple of which had spilled over. It was very unpleasant. My daughter was getting married at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and I was informed she would not be allowed to leave the hotel in her wedding dress! I appreciate they were hosting a wedding themselves but they made no effort with any of our party (and we had booked numerous rooms) which felt positively miserable ( I wasn’t expecting red carpet treatment but a few smiles/pleasant chat would have been greatly appreciated).

Love the venue not so...

Liked: The sun was shining and the photos on this site does not do it justice it’s a super building with nice grounds very peaceful
Disliked: Odd procedures, not letting you use spa at set times until challenged, trying to walk in for a meal when there was lots of empty seats was a issue and made not to feel welcome, bar was meant to stay open late but closed early very odd place losing money where customers would have spent money

Liked: Beautiful location. Beautiful rooms.Staff were lovely.
Disliked: Beds were very uncomfortable. If a nice mattress was available it would be 10 out of 10.

Disliked: Would expect aircon for the price. Mattress so thin I can feel the bed base. Room not properly prepared, no soap, no shampoo. Staff a bit indifferent.
