Built in 1700 and overlooking the pier this family-run hotel is close to the town center the bus and train stations golf fishing and is 8 miles from Dover ferry port. Waterfront Hotel is a cozy period hotel with helpful friendly staff willing to help. Single double triple and family rooms are available some of which are en suite. The property has a long history as a hotel. It is thought that Admiral Nelsons crew frequented the hotel during the 1700's. Located directly in front of Deal's pier the hotel has panoramic views out to the Goodwin Sands and the coast of France. Guests are invited to relax with a coffee in the lounge and appreciate the view. The lounge Bar and some of the rooms have wonderful sea views. The hotel does not have a elevator.

Liked: I liked the view ..and room was comfortable .
Disliked: Still cleaning at half 3 ... no towels ready , . Welcome staff ... didn't give much information...

avoid the top floor

Liked: Location is walking distance from the station and on the beachfront
Disliked: The electric shower was only running cold water- it had an out of use sign but I was given no alternative, there was a broken light and a dirty rag on the shelving , and remained there throughout my stay.

Faulty towers

Liked: Staff great, breakfast great, even the beds we’re comfortable and slept well
Disliked: Keep the staff but sell the property. I needs a complete overhaul. Really dirty, showers boiling hot then cold, TV not working, toilet out of train spotting - the worst hotel experience ever and that’s saying something

Appalling hotel. It will not...

Liked: First morning breakfast.The view.
Disliked: I wish I had read Trip Advisor before I booked this hotel; their recent reviews reflect our experience and do not agree with the reviews on Booking.com. The room was dirty and had not been properly cleaned. The bedsheet had a hole in it and the carpet was covered in dog hairs and was badly stained with dirt. Other guests had similar complaints. First morning breakfast was excellent, not so good on the second morning. Upon arrival, I complained about the lack of cleanliness and the chap on reception vacuum cleaned the room but it made little difference (I believe that the vacuum cleaner was not working properly). There was no soap and upon request we we given a small sample tube of shower gel, we were told that shower gel was very expensive! There was no wardrobe. Only one cup. The toilet was stained and needed to be bleached. The bath was dirty, the slip mat left in the bath and when lifted, it was dirty underneath. The shower dribbled with lukewarm water.The bar was closed as apparently they no longer have an alcohol licence.Lauren and Stephen were very helpful members of staff and it is a shame that such excellent people have to work where their efforts are undermined by their employersWe had no choice but to stay on the first night because we arrived too late to make an alternative reservation.I understand that the hotel is recently under new ownership/management but our experience suggests it will not survive for long.

Horrid manager, horrid hotel, do...

Disliked: I booked a double room. It was made clear when booking the room that there would be shared toilets and shower. That is perfectly acceptable - I knew what I was getting. However, I also booked a triple room which had no indication that there was no ensuite. When I checked-in and complained about not having an ensuite the night porter put me in touch with the hotel manager who simply did not care. I pointed out that I was a diabetic so needed the toilet several times a night. The manager fobbed me off by stating that the night porter could not deal with the matter but I should raise it with the manager in the morning and I would get a refund. I suffered a difficult night trapsing back and forth out into the loo down the hall. The next day when I spoke to the duty manager she simply stated she had been told not to give me a refund. I found the whole episode very upsetting.
