It was a good price...
Liked: The property was beautiful, quiet, great food, great service. It’s nice that they cleaned the bathroom and checked the beds each day.
Disliked: Our room felt very cramped and didn’t look like the pictures. The room needs a bit more updating. The mattresses need to be replaced. The sheets didn’t fit the queen sleeper sofa and the overlay quilt was so scratchy and uncomfortable for the kids. I told them we had 4 people, but they gave us 3 towels and never brought another one when I asked. When I found the linen closet open, I took the 4th towel, and even though we hung our towels signaling that we would reuse our towels they took all of them when they cleaned the bathroom and still only gave us 3 towels.

A beautiful hotel with garden...
Liked: Location was perfect for us as we had a funeral to attend close by. Loved the ease of parking on site, smooth reception and quality and comfort of our room. We had a very fine view of the attractive garden and beyond into the city of London. It was beautifully quiet and we could open the bedroom window easily. We loved the history of this Victorian hotel and the fact that the owners are clearly investing in its upkeep. Breakfast at £15 was very good value indeed with perfectly cooked ( for us) scrambled eggs. Service was efficient and pleasant throughout. The hotel is located in the most exclusive part of Kingston upon Thames.
Disliked: Nothing really. Our room was slightly in need of upgrading eg some wallpaper was peeling and the floor felt lumpy in places under the carpet.

Great looking building and location....
Liked: Great location. Stunning period buildings
Disliked: Stayed in room 39. Wasn't told it was right next to the rubbish collection and laundry truck pick up area. Woken every morning at 7am to reversing warning alarms from the trucks and laundry trolleys amd rubbish bins being dragged to and into trucks

Quirky but extremely friendly staff
Liked: The staff, whether front of house or housekeeping, are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They were forthcoming about the ownership of the hotel when we asked, which was interesting to get to know the background of the owners. The food is of a good quality and reasonably priced. I particularly liked the Indian spiced masala omelette for breakfast! The grounds are generally well kept and it is clear that the owners are putting money in to the property, though this is a work in progress, to improve overall attractiveness and improve on the fabric of the property. The terrace and gardens were a very good place to enjoy our pre-dinner drinks, ably served by the barman. We noticed that the bar and waiting staff we very attentive to all of the guests present on the terrace. In fact, we felt that all members of staff had been very well trained in customer service, which is a credit to them and the management. Our room was more than adequate for our needs, and my wife thought the the ensuite was exceptionally well designed for such a small room and with excellent make up mirrors. We liked the Jo Loves by Jo bath and body lotions and hand shops - noting these are quite expensive. The public areas of the hotel are generally relaxing and although busy, the hotel did not feel crowded.
Disliked: On arrival, it was very difficult to hear the front of house member checking us in, due to the volume of the piano playing in an adjacent corridor. Simply too loud. We were concerned that it was also sited outside of the restaurant, as the volume would have simply interfered with our meal. However, staff came to the rescue, reducing the volume and eventually turning the piano off before we ate. Being too loud, it interfered with the general calmness of the hotel. Our room could have done with a little TLC - some of the glass table tops were missing their supports so wobbled. We didn't find any "Do not disturb" or similar cards to hang on the door handles nor any local attractions, etc., information, whilst some used glasses had not be removed by housekeeping, although the bin had been emptied, but these are minor points.

Pleasant
Liked: Bed very comfortable. Attractive old building. Staff very friendly.
Disliked: The food menu at dinner. Very limited choice. Ordered butter chicken but didn't taste like butter chicken. Debris on carpet, not been hoovered up. Noisy planes overhead at night.I was told the wrong breakfast time. Was told 7.30am and it was actually 7am. But didn't open until about 7 10am.. Garden and grounds need some maintenance, looking a bit shabby in places. Stains on carpet in the evening dining room
