Wonderful few days in a...

Liked: Lovely period hotel very well presented. All the staff were exceptionally nice, friendly and helpful, in addition to being very dog friendly. We were all made very welcome (myself, husband, elderly father and pooch). The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfasts were excellent. Loved the Otis lift - and so quiet. Nice and near to the sea front, prom and dog friendly beach.
Disliked: Only disappointment was that the restaurant does not serve evening meals - thought that it did when I booked. Having a dog and an elderly father with me meant finding dog friendly restaurants nearby with parking. This was quite tricky. Just a slight inconvenience that I wasn't expecting and specific to my personal circumstances.

Period pleasure

Liked: Quaint, charming, welcoming and friendly. The original lift with the self-operated doors was incredible (so quiet and smooth). The pink-coloured full-size snooker table in the basement was a delete. The collection of artefacts on the second floor was wonderful. There was a lovely little balcony and every bedroom has a sea view. We had a fun stay.
Disliked: Bathroom and shower weren't up to modern standards (this is one area where the period 'charm' was not welcomed). Shower didn't give consistent temperature. No mixer taps and no thermostatic control, resulting in wild swings from almost scalding to almost freezing water with no warning.Toilet roll dispenser was a freestanding wooden kitchen roll holder. This might have been ok if the holder wasn't itself falling apart. Difficult to know where to put a toilet roll holder in that bathroom: the bathroom layout in general was not great with the toilet adjacent to the bath. The bed and upper layer of pillows had those velvety/quilted covers that rarely get cleaned.

Stepping back in time in...

Liked: Great location with beautiful views, easy parking, hotel staff were very professional and friendly, interesting decoration/art/artefacts inside and original 1920s vibes.
Disliked: The hotel was very traditional and didn’t have a particularly good rooms, e.g. no proper shower in the bathroom (hand held shower head above bath), bedding was dated and pillows were not comfortable. Breakfast had a lot of options including fresh fruit but the hot selection wasn’t best quality.

Disliked: It is quite far to walk from the old town. Will definitely need a car
