Walnut Creek Marriott

July birthday trip was coo….could...

Liked: Good location and nice hotel
Disliked: The hallways were dark. For Walnut Creek I expected it to be airy and bright. The hotel system went down my last night and that sucked big time. This was my solo birthday trip and I wanted to order room service on the Marriott app but couldn’t…..called instead. No wifi last night of my stay and no communication from the hotel until i was trying to check out. Management had to email me my check without any way of giving me the final total.

Liked: Wasn’t able to access the lounge room after repeatedly going downstairs to get my card fixed and assured it would work once on the 6th floor not working

Dirty/Ants

Liked: The pillows and bed were the only good thing about our stay.
Disliked: To begin with, the fact that valet parking was the only option available at the Marriott. Otherwise, you'd have to park far away in an unsafe area and walk back. At check-in, they couldn't find my reservation in the system, even though I showed them the email with the confirmation information. After taking my phone to the manager in the back room (instead of the manager coming out to assist us) twice, it took them about 15 min to figure it out. Once we got into the room, we noticed that there were a few pieces of spaghetti on the floor by the side of the bed, a trail of ants in the bathroom under the sink, and pieces of hair in and on the shower/toilet/floor/ceiling of the bathroom. We informed the front desk of the ants, which they stated they have been having issues with recently and that they would make note of in their system. We were really looking forward to swimming in the pool, which was tricky to find on the property, and were VERY disappointed when we found it. It was MUCH smaller than the picture showed online, only went up to 4 ft in depth, and was REALLY dirty. The water pressure of the shower head was SUPER soft to where it took forever to rest anything off and the scent of the shampoo/conditioner/soap that was equipped in there had an AWEFULL smell to them. When we got back to our room from a night out, we noticed that SOMEONE had been in the room and changed the remote to the tv, even though we had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the doorknob. The ANT problem had gotten worse, as we found them on top of the counter, below the TV, as well as still in the bathroom. I DO NOT LIKE ANTS, so I became SO paranoid that I felt itchy and weary ALL NIGHT and couldn't sleep!

Visiting family

Liked: Very spacious. Good size room. Great bathroom. Comfy beds and pillows. Lots of seating. Good food. 12 o'clock checkout.
Disliked: Parking was chaotic and expensive. Pool area was tiny compared to pictures with loud road noise.
