Disliked: Tiles broken in toilets .woodwork painted but full of age born cracks .dated I would describe the hotel as .tired 2 small biscuits .one bottle of comp water .no mini bar .I'd have spent money but the staff would or could not allow me to .On Friday morning ,we went to the breakfast bar informed the attendant at the door we would like to avail of the hotels offer of individually purchasing items of breakfast. Coffee and porridge .she said she'd come over and take our order .we left for a brilliant cafe .one of lots of cafes in the area after 17 minutes .again mismanagement On returning from town at 11pm.on friday night the bar remained closed.un manned .closed on the Friday night as the hotel hadn't enough staff .I'm 57 .travel alot .never did I hear .we can't get you a drink .On Saturday morning my daughter who lives in edinburgh, called to see us .she came up to us at 10 am .my wife went looking for someone to bring us a pot of coffee .a younger member of staff gave her 3 coffee bags and 3 of the milk sachets they use in mc Donald's .just awful .We never saw a manager just younger training staff 22 ish .we had a perfect weekend .this didn't spoil anything as I was busy with family and I'm resourced enough to find positive things to do .The manager needs to really quantify to the group what their challenges are .if the hotels ethos is dated its easily mis construed as old and cynical .a startlingly beautuful location .the prettiest of any hotel I'd ever been in ..2 minutes from everything but 1000000 miles from any standard ive experienced in a similar hotel ..

Very good

Liked: Ideal location for station, city centre and close to bus and tram routes. Good breakfast.
Disliked: Room was quite small but very comfortable. A short steep walk up to the hotel but worth it!

Liked: The building’s architecture was nice
Disliked: The room photos posted on booking .com (and their website) for the premium king room were not accurate, the room we ended up getting was very different aesthetically and much smaller

Great location for a break...

Liked: Lovely hotel, set on a quiet street yet still within walking distance of the centre. Great choice of hot and cold food at breakfast times. Staff were very friendly & the hotel was very clean and modern inside. Sockets by the bed excellent stayed in a few places recently where this wasn't the case. The room also had thick long curtains to keep the light out while asleep. Definitely recommend decent price for such a great location

Disliked: Broken bathroom tiles , uncomfortable bed, noisy deliveries at 6am., breakfast plates not hot so food goes cold very quickly.
