Nice hotel, one staff member...

Liked: Clean, good facilities.
Disliked: The staff member who checked us in was awful. All the other staff were lovely, but coming off a long journey to be met with someone who didn’t smile, seemed disinterested, unfriendly and very transactional immediately put a sour taste in my mouth.

Not quite what you’d expect...

Liked: Good location for getting about on foot everywhere but the immediate side roads are not safe to walk down at night. Rooms were kept clean. Check out was fast. Terrace on 3rd floor is a lovely area with good food but I was told this was an over 21s area that I only found out was incorrect on our last day, or we would have used it a lot more.
Disliked: Rooms are small. No separate bathroom with sinks in the room and shower and toilet cubicles off the main room. No privacy so not suited to sharing this room unless you are ok with that. Reception needs a rethink. It doesn’t look like a hotel lobby and not at all impressive. Does not look like a Virgin property. At no point when I was booking was there info telling me that my children wouldn’t be allowed to use the pool. Turned out they could only go for a swim from 8:30-12. Completely defeated the object of us swapping to this hotel. Online info needs to be clear on this. Lifts use the system that allocates a lift based on the floor destination which means at busy times you end up waiting ages as it allocates everyone to just one lift. Some staff were good such as Darnell and Julio. Some were not. Staff in one area know nothing about other departments or seem to make up info / give out incorrect info. Very mixed so training and monitoring can’t be consistent. Expected better from this brand.

Excellent hotel with perfect amenities!

Liked: Omg! This property was a-ma-zing! Finally, I found the perfect hotel at NYC! The front desk was super friendly (Abraham), he upgraded our room to a chamber suite with a balcony and it was the best room I have ever seen in New York and I travel a lot and stayed a lot of different hotels in new York but never saw like this one. The view from the balcony was amazing, the room was excellent with all brand new furniture and the overall design in the hotel was so nice, so stylish, so modern! We had a dinner reservation at everden restaurant and the food was great, we also had a reservation at Riff Reff club rooftop bar and it was also amazing. We used the spa for couples massage and Amy was the best! Definitely coming back!
