nice place and staff are...

Liked: staff were friendly and it was a comfy room.
Disliked: the corridors are very tatty and the bathroom although tidy and clean was in desperate need of updating / replacing. couldn’t get any hot water on the first trip to the shower. cold it was.

Stay away at all costs!

Liked: Nice Italian resturant called prego on the high street
Disliked: Hotel food terrible atrocious appalling! Made me vomit throughout the night. Superior room dated and the bed was akin to a camp bed. Location nothing to do. A scruffy little road witha couple of cheap scruffy shops. Two pubs full of teenagers and kids. Waste of time and money. Avoid!

Good

Liked: Fascinating historical building. Very good restaurant The Duke. The a la carte breakfast was tasty. Extraordinary helpful staff. Location in the very heart of the town.
Disliked: The rooms need some renovation and technical enhancements like refrigerators, charging sockets near the bed and so on. The mattresses are too soft. The ventilation hole in the bathroom is systematically skipped by the cleaners. The wifi is just awful everywhere in the building. Given that, I find that the accommodation is a bit overpriced.
