The Spotlight on Village Hotel Nottingham

Stylish comfort just outside the buzz of Nottingham

Modern and welcoming, Village Hotel Nottingham offers the perfect balance between convenience and comfort. Located in Chilwell, just a short drive from Nottingham city centre, this hotel combines sleek, contemporary design with a friendly community vibe. With 146 guest rooms, an on-site pub, Starbucks, and even a full leisure club, it's a solid base for concert-goers looking to unwind before and after the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Thanks to its location just off the M1 and under 10 minutes from key regional hubs, getting to and from venues is easy—whether you're catching a gig in the city or heading to Donington Park for a festival. The hotel’s welcoming atmosphere makes it great for late arrivals, and while it’s not right in the city centre, that means quieter nights after the encore. With check-in from 15:00 and check-out at 11:00, there's just enough flexibility for weekenders and event-day travelers.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends who want a stylish place to crash after the show
Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list gig
Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
Fans looking for a calm, post-concert retreat
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want great amenities

Food and Drink Options

You won’t go hungry here. The Village Pub & Grill offers tasty meals and a lively atmosphere, perfect for grabbing dinner before heading out. If you're coming back late, the on-site Starbucks is there for a morning-after caffeine fix. While there's no 24/7 room service or late-night menu, the variety of options nearby makes up for it.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn't host live music, the pub often buzzes with locals and travelers alike on gig nights. And with Nottingham’s nightlife just a short cab or ride-share away, it’s easy to keep the party going. Prefer a quieter nightcap? Grab a pint at the hotel bar and relax.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff and clean, comfy rooms. The gym and pool get rave reviews for those who like to squeeze in a workout before showtime. Travelers also highlight the free WiFi and good value for money. Many mention how peaceful the location feels, especially after a loud night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests have mentioned that the hotel can get busy during events or weekends, especially the gym and pool. Also, being slightly outside Nottingham means you'll need to plan your transport—but that's a small trade-off for the quiet nights and easy parking.

The Bottom Line

Village Hotel Nottingham is a smart, friendly choice for music fans wanting easy access to gigs without sacrificing comfort, amenities, or a good night’s sleep.

Best first-time experience at a...

Liked: Let me start off by saying, Village Hotel (Chilwell) was my first stay at a hotel. I was not sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff members are incredible, responsive, friendly, and kind. The hotel itself is neat, and the Starbucks, pub, and gym an added bonus. I opted for the club room option, with the free breakfast. The room: Large, clean, and the bed absolutely heavenly. The bathroom is spacious as well, though I found the shower slightly impractical, but great after a long day of Download aka Dustload 2025 sun, and dirt. While a fan was provided, the room I was assigned was immensely hot. The window could not be opened at night, due to the amount of spiders outside the window— this may be a me-thing. Apart from that, the room overlooked the swimming pool area, and the early morning classes will wake you if you are a light sleeper, so request a room not overlooking the pool/gym side. I'm a newbie, hence I didn't think to request this before my stay. I will say it again, THE BED IS HEAVENLY.Breakfast: Baked goods, breads, a warm breakfast, or fruits, yoghurts, and bottomless coffee. Definitely add this to your stay, as it is worthwhile for the small extra.Gym/Pool: I didn't use the pool, and stopped by the gym only once during my stay. It gets busy. If you are looking to unwind in an unpacked space, instructors will happily tell you when the quieter hours are.Pub: Try the fish, and chips. It is worth it.Lastly, while it is considered further out, and seems to be one of the last places booked during Download weekend. I want to assure anyone reading this looking for accommodation that it is not only affordable, but ideal. The bus-stop is a short 5-minute walk from the hotel, and at night you catch the same bus from the shuttle/bus pick-up zone. Enjoy a restful sleep, and hot shower at The Village Hotel, before you brave the dust and/or rain.I will definitely rebook at The Village Hotel.
Disliked: Small suggestion, while cleaning services are offered, something like a toilet brush to be used by the guest if/when needed would be a lovely touch. As well as increasing the toilet tissue/essentials to match the length/duration of the guest's stay.
