The Spotlight on Village Hotel Edinburgh

Stylish Comfort Just Outside the City Buzz

Modern and well-equipped, Village Hotel Edinburgh offers a sleek retreat just a short ride from Edinburgh's city centre. With a contemporary design, an on-site spa, and a gym with an indoor pool, this hotel balances relaxation and accessibility. Located just 1.6 miles from Murrayfield Stadium and other top venues, it's a smart pick for music lovers visiting the capital.

Each room is air-conditioned and includes a flat-screen TV with Sky Sports, free Wi-Fi, and a modern bathroom—ideal for decompressing after a high-energy show.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel hits the right notes for music fans: it's close to major concert venues like Murrayfield Stadium and the EICC but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The on-site parking is a bonus for road-trippers, and with late check-in from 15:00 and check-out until 11:00, there's flexibility for those enjoying late-night gigs. Local transport links make it easy to get into the city and back safely after a show.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a social base with a bar and casual dining
- Solo travelers heading to a once-in-a-lifetime gig
- Couples planning a concert-filled weekend getaway
- Fans who want a quieter, more relaxing post-show atmosphere
- Budget-conscious music lovers seeking good value with great amenities

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Village Pub & Grill serves up all-day dining with locally sourced options—ideal for either pre-concert fuel or a late-night bite. There's also a Starbucks on-site, perfect for those much-needed post-show lattes. While 24/7 room service isn’t available, the bar and grill stay open late enough to satisfy most cravings.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it’s a quick trip into Edinburgh's lively nightlife scene, with bars, clubs, and live music venues easily accessible. Prefer something more low-key? The hotel bar offers a relaxed setting with a good drinks selection, including local craft options.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the convenience of the on-site gym and spa, and the friendly service. Many also highlight the easy access to city attractions and venues, making it a favorite for event-goers.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers note that the hotel is a bit outside the city centre, so taxis or public transport may be needed for late-night returns. Also, while the gym and spa facilities are excellent, they do come at an extra cost—which might not appeal to budget travelers.

The Bottom Line

With stylish rooms, great dining, and easy access to Edinburgh’s top venues, Village Hotel Edinburgh is a solid choice for concert-goers who want comfort without the chaos.

Very disappointed

Liked: The few staff who were friendly
Disliked: I recently stayed at this hotel for 4 days / 3 nights with my husband and toddler and unfortunately, I left feeling very disappointed with my overall experience. I had chosen this hotel hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, but sadly it was quite the opposite, and I would not return if visiting Edinburgh again. One of the most upsetting incidents happened when using the leisure facilities. While in the pool and sauna area, I was very abruptly and rudely spoken to by a staff member named Scott. We mistakenly thought the jacuzzi was about to come on, but when we realised it wasn’t, we stepped back to continue to wait. However, by this point Scott had already made a beeline for us from across the other side of the poolside, where he was sat waiting for fault of any of the guests and proceeded to shout and point his finger at me, stating that the jacuzzi can not be entered if the bubbles are not on and furthermore demanding that I should not be using my phone in this area because I had briefly used my phone for two seconds to check on my child before putting it away in my pouch. He demanded that I go into the changing rooms to lock my phone away. When we later tried to calmly raise how inappropriate his manner had been, he dismissively replied, “this is how I am, I won’t change,” becoming increasingly confrontational. As we later spoke with another member of staff to confirm his name, he continued to storm past aggressively and even pushed against me. This behaviour was completely unprofessional, intimidating, and unacceptable, leaving me feeling shocked, uncomfortable, and extremely frustrated. It ruined what should have been a relaxing evening.Beyond this, the hotel fell short in several basic areas. The rooms were not cleaned to an acceptable standard, cups and spoons were left dirty, essentials were not replenished daily, and the overall housekeeping process was awkward and ineffective.
