Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Catherine, B, visiting Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Sat, 26 August 2023

Initial Receptionist- no personality. Didn’t offer directions to a room; quite a distance walk; Morning Coffee offered - employee greeted us awaiting guests in hallway with a pitcher of water; coffee not made at 7:45. Breakfast included in my hotel package - not offered til 8:30. I had to leave area for a dr. Appt. in Binghamton - couldn’t wait.

Liked: Room was quiet.
Disliked: Morning receptionist didn’t know managers name.

Overall we had the best...

Liked: So much to offer all ages, great for families.
Disliked: The wait time for food at the cafe restaurant the first night was ridiculously long, like about an hour and a half and we had 13 hungry kids. They said they were understaffed but we didn’t even get a menu for the longest time. Our friends at the next table said they waited an hour to get their drinks. It didn’t seem overly busy and they had a few people working. The second night was much better.

It was nerve wracking. Could...

Liked: Did not stay for breakfast. Checked out at 7:30am. It was impossible to stay any longer given the circumstances.
Disliked: We were told that there would be a mandatory power outage on the day after we arrived. The entire facility would be affected. There would be no reason to stay. Also, there was no internet connection or ability to use my cell phone. We were told there was only one company active and that was Verizon. I have TMobile and travelled toEurope without any difficulty.

I enjoyed my short stay....

Liked: The front grounds are beautiful as was the lobby. Staff was very courteous. Rodney was very friendly in taking my luggage to room day I arrived and day I left.
Disliked: The included breakfast was not to my liking. Pancakes were dry and coffee was awful. If I wanted to get anything at store in lobby, could not use cash. Very inconvenient.Hotel could use an update with rugs, walls need fresh paint and rooms need updating with walls and rugs. Rugs are stained.Phones did not work.

Paid $279 for 1 night...

Disliked: everything and we didn't even stay there due to all the problems. Took 2 hrs to find the place, they don't answer the phone just take a message and had to ask strangers on the road if they knew where it was. Check in at 4 pm and at 7;30 made us wait 30 minutes to see if the room was ready. Finally found the room as they didn't tell us where it was. Lights very dull so couldn't see how clean room was however after opening shade could see beds not properly made, could see the mattress where they didn't even pull the sheet down. We left as we were already over an hour late for the concert. After the concert we were rerouted due to an accident and ended up on a highway that was less than 2 hours to home so that's where we went
