So so in Lincoln Park

Liked: Decor fabulous and rich, shower, towels, HBO, atmosphere warm and welcoming, unique property.
Disliked: No staff available after 5:00 p.m., no breakfast prepared, rather, make it yourself, no response to texts asking for direction on how to operate lights, hot tub unavailable, mattress gap between headboard sending pillows to the dust bunnies under the bed, no room service, although stated available on the booking site, no in room coffee service, cell phone reception poor in converted basement where I was lodged.

Lovely friendly place that could...

Liked: Villa d' Citta is a lovely pricey Bed & Breakfast, French ornate with a large downstairs, a beautiful kitchen and sitting room and a nice outdoor patio area at back. The bedroom is roomy and the bed super comfortable.
Disliked: Elevator to top floor (where our bedroom was) didn't work. We visited during a hot weekend in August and our bedroom at the front of the building was warm though downstairs the AC was cranked (maybe 2nd floor bedrooms were cooler?). Good breakfast and coffee but timing was overly relaxed....so, like, no coffee prepared at 7 :30 a.m. one day.

A good stay that could...

Liked: - Beautiful property! You need to see it to believe it.- Well stocked kitchen. Keep in mind you have to make all your own food. But there?s everything you could need for a great breakfast or a snack.- Hot tub at night on the deck is amazing. It?s big! (Jets weren?t working on one side)- Rooms is large and bed was very comfy.Overall a very relaxed environment! With only 6 rooms, we rarely saw other guests and almost always had the kitchen to ourselves.
Disliked: - check in was a mess. There were staffing issues which meant we had arrived in time to check in but our room wasn?t ready as advertised. We ended up waiting for three hours past check in time and still couldn?t check into the room.Obviously with Covid? this wasn?t something the staff would have wanted and it wasn?t on purpose or their fault. But it was still a negative experience and it meant we had to shower in a spare room and change in the lobby. My actual issue is that besides a quick apology, there was no real acknowledgment of the impact and no real attempt to make it right. We had paid to check in at 3 and didn?t get access to the room until after 6.A gesture of some kind to ?make it right? would have been in order. Something as simple as a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine? to a discount on the room that night would have been in order and helped get everyone off on the right foot.- after a negative first impression, at midnight someone on the property offered to rent us a second room that they had open for $100. This also left a bad taste in the mouth. We?d had a negative experience checking in and now we?re being offering to have a second room, which we don?t need or want and you want $100 dollars from us? It was an u professional moment made worse because of the check in experience.Besides these issues the only other thing to consider is the heat. There is only one air control for the entire place. The room severely overheated the first night. We opened the window only to come back after a day out to find that someone had entered our room to close the window because it was ?broken? and the gentleman told us not to open ANY of the windows in the room. Again, it left a negative impression. We found the air conditioning controls and were able to lower the temperature the next few nights. Honestly, a bit more effort to make things right would have made a good stay GREAT. I?d give them another chance.
