The Spotlight on Viking Hotel

Affordable Comfort Just Minutes from Stratford's Music Scene

Modern and budget-friendly, the Viking Hotel sits in East London’s vibrant Newham borough, just a mile from Stratford Rail and Tube Station. With easy access to London’s top concert venues and airports, this hotel keeps things simple with clean, comfortable rooms, free parking, and a 24/7 front desk. It's a no-fuss option for travelers who want a convenient base without blowing their budget.

Rooms are equipped with satellite TV, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and private bathrooms with hairdryers. Cribs are available on request, and a continental breakfast buffet is served daily to get your day started after a late night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

With Stratford Station just a short walk or quick cab ride away, getting to major venues across London is a breeze. The 24-hour reception makes late check-ins smooth after a night of live music, and free on-site parking is a big perk for those driving in. The neighborhood stays fairly quiet at night, offering a peaceful place to unwind after a show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for budget-friendly rooms close to the action
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see gig
  • Couples making a weekend of it in the city
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who value location and essentials

Food and Drink Options

The Viking Hotel offers a self-service continental breakfast daily—ideal for those recovering from a late night. While there’s no on-site restaurant for evening meals, there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways within a 10-minute walk. Guests can also enjoy a hot drink in the lobby’s relaxed seating area.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is quiet, it’s within easy reach of bars and pubs in Stratford, and just a quick Tube ride to London’s buzzing nightlife districts. Whether you're heading to a gig or looking for a nightcap, the location makes it easy to dip into the scene and retreat to peace.

What People Say

Guests love the affordable pricing, free parking, and proximity to public transit. Reviews often mention the hotel’s clean rooms and friendly 24-hour staff. Many say it’s “great value for money” and perfect for a short London stay centered around events or concerts.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the basic side, and the lack of air conditioning might be noticeable in the summer. Some guests mention sound from the street, so light sleepers may want to pack earplugs. Breakfast is simple—fine for most, but don’t expect a full English.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a budget-friendly, well-connected hotel near London’s major music venues, Viking Hotel hits all the right notes.

Emma J, Weston-super-Mare, visiting ABBA Arena Fri, 15 July 2022

Great location to shops; just 10 minutes up the road to a huge shopping centre and plenty of places to eat. Parking and friendly service; helpful staff at check in and out; no issues. Would stay again.

Liked: It had secure parking; the rooms were small but perfect for a night or two; convenient to walk to the ABBA Arena (20 minutes); the room had a comfy bed and even a fridge; the bathroom had a shower and everything was spot on for the price; would highly recommend for a no frills stay; breakfast was good, help yourself to as much as you like - can not fault it.
Disliked: None.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and checked us in early as we arrived. The shower products were fabulous and the food was reasonably priced and was top restaurant quality. It's a fun quirky hotel with table football, board games and a great vibe.

Liked: The food and the shower products.

Good value for money

Liked: The room was spacious and the beds were very comfy. Good location near shops if you need a bite to eat.
Disliked: There was no shampoo in the bathroom and the tv couldn't connect to channels such as BBC/ ITV but there were streaming services such as iPlayer and ITVX which worked so I could still watch programmes/ movies on demand.

Pleasant - 3.0 out of 5

Not very good

Liked: Location to where I needed to be. Room was clean and well roomy for a family, fridge in room which was good as needed it.
Disliked: There was a broken toilet roll holder in my room, the room had no privacy as people (other so say permanent guests) were looking in my window from courtyard that I had to have the curtains always drawn and no natural light was received in room because of this. I wasn’t allowed in the reception and they insisted doing business through a window. To check in and pay bill etc, I actually felt that the main part of the hotel was being rented out to migrants and myself as a full paying customer was less important than they were and to be refused entry into the proper reception area was disgustingly unprofessional.
