A hidden gem within walking...
Liked: An adorable, reasonably priced B & B within walking distance of Hanover Theatre, Polar Field, DCA Center, etc. Clean, very comfortable beds and an incredible breakfast-complete with eggs and homemade breads. We were greeted in person by the staff, all of our questions were asked and we had a nice chat with the owner at the end of breakfast. Off street and free parking. We will definitely visit the Vida Boutque again and we highly recommend this B&B.

Surprised by the cost
Liked: A beautiful house. It too much money for what it was. We had a small room with a small bathroom on the hall (private). The hall lights went on automatically every time anyone walked by, so woke us up. Breakfast was fine but not exciting (breads, yogurt, fruit, eggs). The host was welcoming but didn’t engage to ask about why we were there or to give ideas of things to do. Wish there had been hot water for tea during the day and maybe even some snacks. There was a game of scrabble but nothing else to do in the house on the rainy day. Not as personal an experience as the usual b&b.

Gracious comfortable stay in a...
Liked: The house is a wonderful period piece, carefully maintained and/or period restored, and is furnished with lovely touches from antique furniture to old books to full elegant table settings - all seamlessly wedded to comfortable contemporary bathrooms, comfortable beds and luxurious linen, in room television, excellent rooms and building security. Parking on site. A wonderful wrap porch that must be delightful in warmer season, though it was still too cold when I was there to sit out and enjoy. Very nice breakfast - simple but ample including fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, juices/teas/coffee and a staggering selection of breakfast bakery treats. And in 15-20 minutes walking distance to a part of downtown with more little food and/or brew places than you can shake a stick at :) There are differences from a hotel room of course. Some of the rooms have a private bathroom en suite, mine was down the hall but still entirely private to my use. Considerable sense of privacy, even in a fully booked venue - though delightfully one had a chance to meet other house guests and socialize a bit if desired at communal breakfast in one of the two dining rooms. Room temperatures are on house control rather than in-room thermostats. There are stairs [nice wide well lit and bannistered ones]. Nine out of ten stars for ambience, comfort, graciousness and friendliness of staff, convenience to the Water Street down town area.
Disliked: The second night there was an abrupt cold snap in the weather and by early am the room was a little colder than I might have liked - I heard the room heat register come to life about as I was getting up. But again - this is bed and breakfast in a lovely old home, not a motel room or an air bnb.
