The Spotlight on Victoria Square Hotel Clifton Village

Charming Georgian Comfort in the Heart of Clifton

Modern convenience meets historic charm at Victoria Square Hotel Clifton Village, a boutique hotel set in two elegant Victorian villas on a tranquil green square. Located in the stylish Clifton Village area, this hotel places you just a mile from the center of Bristol, with easy access to live music spots, local attractions, and buzzing nightlife.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s peaceful location offers a welcome escape after a loud night out, but it’s still close enough to the action—just a short taxi or bus ride from Bristol’s top gig venues. With free Wi-Fi throughout and tea and coffee making facilities in every room, it’s easy to unwind after a show. The leafy surroundings and high-ceilinged rooms create a calm, elegant vibe that’s great for post-concert recovery. While there's not 24/7 check-in, the 3 PM check-in and 11 AM check-out give you a relaxed window to arrive and depart.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will appreciate the walkable neighborhood packed with restaurants and pubs.
Solo travelers seeing a bucket-list artist will find the hotel safe, welcoming, and well-connected.
Couples can turn a gig night into a romantic Clifton weekend.
Fans needing a quieter space will love the serene vibe and leafy views.
Budget-conscious music lovers get value without sacrificing charm or location.

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant for dinner, the hotel shines at breakfast with a cook-to-order morning menu—ideal after a late night. Just steps from the hotel, Clifton Village’s many independent eateries and cafés offer everything from tapas to traditional pub fare. Though there’s no 24/7 room service, you’ll find plenty of late-night bites within walking distance.

Nightlife Options

The location puts you near some of Bristol’s most beloved bars and lounges, perfect for pre- or post-show drinks. While there’s no live music in the hotel itself, you’re only a short journey away from buzzing Bristol nightlife, including cocktail bars, student hangouts, and music pubs.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s historic charm and peaceful setting, often noting the friendly staff and the clean, spacious rooms. The neighborhood is praised for its walkability, safety, and great local restaurants. Travelers also appreciate the balance between proximity to the city and the quiet, village-like feel of Clifton.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel’s older building means no elevator, so be prepared for stairs. A few rooms can feel a bit dated in decor, and parking can be limited at busy times. But for most, the charm and location more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a stylish, peaceful base just minutes from Bristol’s music scene, Victoria Square Hotel Clifton Village hits the right note.

Amanda, Bristol, visiting Anson Rooms Bristol

Chose somewhere close to Anson Rooms. Would most definitely stay again when next in Bristol. One of the friendliest hotels we've stayed in. Lovely room.

Liked: Friendly staff. Good, clean room.
Disliked: No bad points at all.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff...

Liked: Location was perfect with a short stroll through picturesque Victoria Square into Clifton Village. The room was spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean and I loved that there was a bath! Value for money is second to none in this area. Overall, a welcoming, comfortable and well located hotel.
Disliked: A little noise from the road at night, but not too bad.

Pleasant stay apart from lobby...

Liked: Clean, comfortable room. Excellent location close to frequent buses but can also walk to city centre. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
Disliked: Our room, 323, was situated in the lobby area of a separate building. Was quite noisy early am or late evening as groups tended to congregate there and chat. There is a please be quiet notice on the front door but something bigger inside the lobby might be better. Room is overlooked by a couple of houses but only has heavy velvet curtains. A daylight blind is necessary.

Ok. Was far too expensive...

Liked: The location
Disliked: Small carpark, full by the time we arrived and road parking is permit only. Luckily had a disabled badge. The room we were in another building from reception so had to walk back and forth until we found the reception initially. This was difficult as I use a crutch and mobility isn’t the best. I informed them of my disability prior to arrival as I was made aware there was ‘stairs.’ The stairs were a lot. Just to even check in. Not ideal with heavy luggage but understandable as it’s an old building. Reception signage should be more visible. In the email I stated I could walk about one flight of stairs if they couldn’t put me in a ground floor room. Ultimately they had placed me in a top floor room which had 3 flights of stairs and in the other building. The receptionist didn’t tell us the room number until I asked on check in so perhaps she was trying to be quiet about it. It was painful by the time I was in the room. The bed when lying on it, the bottom of the bed popped up. The tv was caked in dust too. The room and bathroom was very outdated and the windows weren’t double glazed.
