Very nice vacation hotel right...

Liked: Great breakfast in the nunnery.
Disliked: Need to walk up steps to room but very nice place to stay. There are other buildings without steps.

Disappointing

Disliked: We stayed in the annex of Klosterhotell in Vadstena for 3 nights in July 2025 (room booked via Booking.com).The room was comfortable and pleasant, breakfast was very good, and the breakfast staff were friendly and attentive.However, there was no room service—or if there was, it wasn’t functioning at all. On both full days of our stay, we returned in the evening to find the room uncleaned and towels unchanged. After contacting reception, someone eventually came to tidy up in the evening, which is far from acceptable.On the second day, following the advice from reception, we placed the “Please clean the room” sign on the door—but even that did not help. Housekeeping still didn’t show up during the day.This is simply not the level of service expected from a hotel in this category, especially not at the premium price charged.It’s a bad feeling to return after a long day and walk into an untidy room.If daily housekeeping matters to you, we would not recommend booking this hotel.

Excellent stay in historic setting

Liked: Lovely historic setting. Fantastic location by lake Vättern. Beautiful room. Breakfast was very excellent and so was dinner at the restaurant. The spa that is situated close by was also very good.
Disliked: I would have liked an iron and ironing board in the room.

A very good tranquil place...

Liked: Great location for a short stay. The lake and surroundings are beautiful. Room was well appointed - including a small sauna. Good breakfast in a grand hall. It is a peaceful place with lots of greenery and good walks.
Disliked: The main issue was that because there were conferences or large corporate groups that had booked out the restaurant it was denied to guests at any sensible times. It would have been good to have been notified in advance especially on a Monday when the town itself is also pretty much closed.
