The Union Hotel is in the center of Penzance. A 5-minute walk from the sea the 17th-century building houses Hamilton's Restaurant and also Nelson's Bar where there is free WiFi. Rooms at The Union Hotel retain their traditional style many have excellent sea views of Mount's Bay and most are en suite. All are centrally heated and have a TV a radio and tea and coffee facilities. A full English breakfast is served in the theater bar visited by Charles Dickens when he stayed at the hotel. The restaurant serves homemade dishes using produce from the local area. Guests can enjoy live music at the weekends in the on-site bar. Penzance has an array of restaurants offering Cornish cuisine as well as globally influenced menus. The town's cinema and theater are a 2-minute walk from the hotel with a selection of bars and coffee shops even closer.

Overpriced by almost double for...

Liked: The staff were helpful. Had storage for bicycles...about four.
Disliked: The carpet on the stairs was dirty. Also, the poached egg with the full English breakfast was very hard, the sausage was rubbery and no milk was supplied with the pot of tea.

Great location and rooms, quirky...

Liked: The location was great as we were traveling to and from the Scilly Isles. The rooms were fine on both occasions that we stayed. The first time we stayed the breakfast was fine .Really liked the slightly quirky decor, the marble busts , the riding boot lamps and some of the paintings.
Disliked: The second time we stayed the breakfast experience was not good. The service was poor , we needed to hunt for our own bowls and plates the coffee was cold and stewed . Definitely lots of room for improvement .

Liked: Location
Disliked: Shabby, dated, no kettle in room was given a dirty staff kettle, dirty windows, cobwebs.Milk suppled for tea/coffee making was 5 months out of date.Very old fashioned bed and furniture.Needs updatingBreakfast table dirty table cloth, no glasses for juice.Very dissapionted and at £125 for one night certainly not worth the money.On a positive Staff wete friendly.

The worst hotel I've ever...

Liked: Good location, breakfast was a bit ordinary.
Disliked: Old, creeky floors and dirty carpets. No lifts. Needs lots of renovation. Very run-down.No hot water most days. No sink plug. Wash basin was filthy when I arrived, which I had to clean myself.Some days the room wasn't cleaned.I wish I'd stayed somewhere else.And somebody (staff or guest) parked me in as I was leaving for the airport.I had a much nicer stay for the same price by the beach at Bournemouth.

Very nice hotel

Liked: Centrally located, barman extremely helpful on arrival. Beautifully laid out hotel.
Disliked: Nothing
