The Spotlight on Tropicana Suite Hotel

Suite Stays with Mountain Views in the Heart of Vancouver

Modern, no-frills comfort meets urban convenience at the Tropicana Suite Hotel, an all-suite stay right in downtown Vancouver. Located on lively Robson Street, this city-center hotel offers cozy accommodations with scenic North Shore mountain views, full in-room kitchens, and easy access to transit and nightlife. It's a smart pick for music fans looking for space to stretch out before or after a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a quick walk or ride away from top venues like Rogers Arena and Queen Elizabeth Theatre. With Vancouver City Centre Station just 0.6 miles away, late-night SkyTrain rides back to the hotel are a breeze. The 24-hour reception makes late check-ins smooth, and the option for a quiet suite with a kitchen means you can unwind your way after the encore. Plus, the sauna is a welcome treat for tired dancing feet.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the roomy suites and sofa beds
Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list tour stop
Couples making a weekend of a big concert night
Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space with mountain views
Budget-conscious music fans who want value and space

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each suite includes a fully-equipped kitchen—perfect for late-night snacking or an easy breakfast after sleeping in. You’re also steps away from a wide range of Robson Street eateries, from sushi to pizza, many open late.

Nightlife Options

You’re in one of Vancouver’s liveliest areas, so expect plenty of bars and lounges within walking distance. Whether you’re into craft beer, cocktails, or low-key wine bars, you’ll find a spot to keep the night going after the encore.

What People Say

Guests love the location and appreciate the spaciousness of the suites, particularly for longer stays or group trips. Reviews often mention the great value for a downtown hotel and how helpful the 24-hour staff is. The views of the mountains also get lots of love, especially from upper-floor rooms.

Areas for Improvement

The decor is a bit dated, and the hotel doesn’t offer some extras like a restaurant or fitness center. Some guests note street noise from Robson Street, so light sleepers might want to request a higher floor.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want space, central access, and self-catering convenience, the Tropicana Suite Hotel delivers a solid, budget-friendly hub in the heart of Vancouver.

Good

Liked: Neighborhood is quiet, lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Room was large and less expensive for Vancouver (which is a relative thing). Staff was nice, and were flexible with us and our schedule. There's even a kitchen in each unit (although really small)!
Disliked: Hotel is old and dated - be prepared for that. As long as you don't need spotless finishes and the fastest wifi (nor elevator) in town, this should work. The carpet and furniture will remind you of the 70's - comfy, a bit tattered around the edges, but will do just fine as long as you don't look too closely. :) It would be wonderful if they could start to do a bit more maintenance and upgrade the appearance and streetscape at a minimum.

Not What I Had Hoped...

Liked: It was the cheapest option in downtown Vancouver when we booked. Plenty of space, decent location, wasn’t expecting much else. For all its age, we think the cleaner does a pretty good job.
Disliked: It was drab, dated, run down to the extent that I doubt it could ever be resurrected. Maybe my fault that I didn’t notice it advertised no cooling whatsoever but you couldn’t even open the gauze-less windows without letting insects in. We’ve also been charged over $50 more than Bookings.com shows. Receptionist says its conversion rate but it works out to 8%. Perhaps best to not hand your card over and ask that it be charged through the booking process.
