The Spotlight on Tropicana Suite Hotel

Suite Stays with Mountain Views in the Heart of Vancouver

Modern, no-frills comfort meets urban convenience at the Tropicana Suite Hotel, an all-suite stay right in downtown Vancouver. Located on lively Robson Street, this city-center hotel offers cozy accommodations with scenic North Shore mountain views, full in-room kitchens, and easy access to transit and nightlife. It's a smart pick for music fans looking for space to stretch out before or after a show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a quick walk or ride away from top venues like Rogers Arena and Queen Elizabeth Theatre. With Vancouver City Centre Station just 0.6 miles away, late-night SkyTrain rides back to the hotel are a breeze. The 24-hour reception makes late check-ins smooth, and the option for a quiet suite with a kitchen means you can unwind your way after the encore. Plus, the sauna is a welcome treat for tired dancing feet.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the roomy suites and sofa beds
Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list tour stop
Couples making a weekend of a big concert night
Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space with mountain views
Budget-conscious music fans who want value and space

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each suite includes a fully-equipped kitchen—perfect for late-night snacking or an easy breakfast after sleeping in. You’re also steps away from a wide range of Robson Street eateries, from sushi to pizza, many open late.

Nightlife Options

You’re in one of Vancouver’s liveliest areas, so expect plenty of bars and lounges within walking distance. Whether you’re into craft beer, cocktails, or low-key wine bars, you’ll find a spot to keep the night going after the encore.

What People Say

Guests love the location and appreciate the spaciousness of the suites, particularly for longer stays or group trips. Reviews often mention the great value for a downtown hotel and how helpful the 24-hour staff is. The views of the mountains also get lots of love, especially from upper-floor rooms.

Areas for Improvement

The decor is a bit dated, and the hotel doesn’t offer some extras like a restaurant or fitness center. Some guests note street noise from Robson Street, so light sleepers might want to request a higher floor.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want space, central access, and self-catering convenience, the Tropicana Suite Hotel delivers a solid, budget-friendly hub in the heart of Vancouver.

Great location but the building...

Liked: This is in a great location, near by the shop, restaurants and on Robson street. I liked the kitchen, living room and a bedroom that you didn’t feel like it is a hotel.
Disliked: The entire building and room are outdated, you could tell it doesn’t maintain or fix any damaged areas. Definitely need to work on this building.

Spectacular value, if you don't...

Liked: Exceptional value and location. For the price of a shared bathroom room at the YWCA, we got a full 1 bedroom apartment with great view, and quiet! Lovely deep bathtub. Kitchen with stove/fridge/microwave, basic dishes, a pot and a pan. Staff was great! Awesome Korean grocery store next door, and all the restaurants of Robson St are right there.
Disliked: Certainly shabby, fridge leaked a bit, some light bulbs burnt out. No AC, but Vancouver isn't too warm. A fan would be nice, though. Wish we could have had 2 keys; they could only give us one.

Very good

Disliked: Called back during cruise to book 3 days after the cruise and was told I would have to call back later to do that, which was impossible because of an excursion. I have never been told to call later to book a room. I of course used a different one. Our other hotel cancelled our reservation and we had only 2 days to figure out where we were going to go.

Good location but very minimal...

Liked: The hotel is in a good location, near Stanley park and lots of good asian food restaurants nearby. Reception staff very helpful.
Disliked: The appartment is very dated and the kitchen was very poor. The kettle had to be heated on the oven, which did not work so we had to heat water in the microwave. Ability to cook a meal was very limited. It was all like stepping back in to the 1980s!

Really good location

Liked: Location excellent and staff were really nice
Disliked: Although we had a lot of room, it seems like the decor hasn't been updated in a very long time

A very good and satisfactory...

Liked: Great location. comfortable room.
Disliked: The building was old and the room needed some refreshing. The old elevator got stuck one time but was quickly fixed. One of the staff members named Asna, a fine lady from India, was a great professional, very polite, helpful with positive attitude helped us with vital information and directions which she printed for us without us asking and assisted us with general information. Asna is a very pleasant and efficient professional. Please forward my praise of Asna to the management. Thank you.

Ridiculously expensive for a 2-star...

Liked: Good location near the port, as we were waiting for our cruise day.
Disliked: Ridiculously expensive for a 2-star hotel. Priced as a 5-star one.
