I think I've said enough....
Liked: I did feel parking was a safer gamble than surrounding areas, the reviews I read were the reason I gave this place a try. I would have stayed two nights but I wanted to test one night, then was told (they were going to kick most everybody out the next day for plumbing repairs). I believed the woman at the front desk, nice lady, but I could sense she has grown accustomed to the riff-raff BS very near this location. It's not impressive, but it's also a great value for the money I paid ($90)? if I recall correctly with booking.com, and I would have stayed a second night but that woman was serious about kicking most everybody out for repairs, so I ended up finding a lessor-but-decent for $80 flat M-F, which was more sketchy, but for the money, OC or LA, unless you are okay with a hostel, this was a great find in my opinion, (definitely a 2.5 star) but a solid 2.5 in my opinion, they wanted $60 cash/credit for deposit, the guy checked my room when I was leaving, he gave me my $60 cash back and I got in my car and took off looking for the next (near-priced) not-so-sketchy but decent place - which was about one mile down the street. I would have liked to stayed here longer for the extra $10 per night, but they plumbing repairs and so I had to leave. All good. Very basic, nothing fancy, no visitors, no guests (maybe one for an hour) - but I got the impression these people don't have hookers staying here and don't put up with riff-raff BS, which is why I am taking the time to write. Room was clean, water was hot, wifi worked, parking was more private and secured than other places nearby, -a good little find. Probably a smaller old apartment complex turned into a hotel/combo. I don't know. That's all I can say. The week I was there I noticed the price here fluctuate between 71-90 which in my searches while in town for five days, was a good find at a good price.
Disliked: I understand due to the area - they give you two tiny soaps, and two shampoo rip bags, - I didn't need ice, didn't need a fridge, microwave, but I think some of the rooms have them,......I think you need more time to make nice with the lady at the front when they aren't having repairs done. It's a cheap countertop, but it had the basics, and I did feel better about this place than the others nearby. The general area is not great, so the attitude of the front desk lady could have been a bit better but (we all have our days), and overall, she was straight with me, found my reservation, "fill this form out, fill this other one out",.....and that was that. My guess is, she is probably much nicer - but it's just that part of town that she has seen and experienced some BS so she don't mess around. I liked her though. She her respect, she'll let you stay. (As it should be). -Anywhere. I think this is a combo of more likes with less dislikes.

Liked: The only thing that I like was the housekeeping guy. me and my husband appreciate him. We noticed that he was the only one cleaning the rooms everyday.
Disliked: The management. Days before I was trying to reach out to change the dates of booking. I even called Booking.com costumer service and they helped me to reach out the Tropic lodge but unfortunately no one answered. So when the day came and we checked in I asked the guy from the front desk and he said, he cannot change anything except the booking.com. I was so confused
