Pleasant place to stay as...

Liked: Provided tea, coffee, biscuits an bottles of water each day.
Disliked: Room very dated, wallpaper ripped, bathroom dated with grubby tiles, old taps, etc.Full breakfast was not traditional English. Would prefer bacon and pork sausage, etc.

Very poor

Liked: The room was quiet, once the downstairs pub closed.
Disliked: The bathroom was mouldy, wallpapers were peeling off. One chair was broken, as if someone had cut it several times with a knife. We had no water in the shower in the morning - had to wait for the staff to show up to get it fixed. Our room was directly above the pub downstairs. The general description on booking.com is misleading. Cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Liked: This hotel was in prime location for the event we attended with good parking.
Disliked: This hotel needs a complete restoration and bringing up to the 21st century. The rooms me and my family booked were poorly decorated, holes in the walls, wallpaper hanging off the ceilings, the paintwork had not been refreshed for decades. The beds were old and seemed like they would collapse at any time. This was generally the feature throughout the hotel and bar areas.The breakfasts we had consisted of boxes of cereals and juices, no problem with that but the hot breakfasts were cold toast, rock hard poached eggs, runny scrambled eggs which we declined to eat on our second morning of our stay.

Liked: Comfortable bed, great location, friendly greeting upon arrival – I was able to check in early!
Disliked: Noise wafted upstairs from the pub / yard below, but I suppose that's inevitable in a place like this

Liked: We just got beans on toast maybe more beans would be good. Only had enough for one slice. Maybe offer jam and toast

Disliked: No welcome at all. Wasn't shown to our room, very impersonal.

Will not going back and...

Liked: Breafast is served after 8.30 only. If you work, you haven't got a chance.All bathroom DIYed with silicon to hide the old cracks, paint coming off the walls.Smell of kitchen in the room. The room hasn't been decorated for 40 years by tyhe looks of it.
Disliked: dont look comfortable nor clean.

Perfectly fine for a budget...

Liked: I was really worried about this place based on others' reviews. But the staff were super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful; the room was not amazing, but it was fine; the bathroom was super clean, freshly painted; and the shower--far from outdated--was actually a bit too technologically advanced for me! (It took some doing to figure out how to make the water come out of the correct tap.)
Disliked: My room didn't have a window (the one window was in the bathroom); the mattress on the bed was not the greatest; there was TV noise from an adjoining room (the TV was loud; fellow tourists, I judge you for your undue devotion to American soap opera); there was no AC; and there was nowhere to plug in the fan so that it could direct air from the bathroom window into the room. (I stayed here during the heatwave.) But I didn't come here (or pay) expecting the Hilton -- the room was fine for a night's stay.
