Enjoyable stay

Liked: Property is dated and needs updating. Some rooms have been refurbished which is good. The swimming pool was good and changing rooms. Disabled shower can only be accessed through the men's or ladies changing room which is an issue if support is required. Hotel does not appear to have any walk in showers and no hand rails in shower over bath. Cleaning of rooms could be better. Majority of staff were lovely. Didn't appear to have a manager or senior around.
Disliked: Old carpets in hallways and some rooms, no hand rails to assist if you have a disability. No independent access to disabled shower in Spa facilities (need to go through men's or female changing rooms. Reception only manned at certain times (you need to use Spa reception or speak to staff). You have to pay upfront nothing can go on to your room bill.

Good but could definitely be...

Liked: Lovely location, food was good.
Disliked: Wasn't as clean as to be expected. Staff were unsure what to do at times. One bar man was very inexperienced and then another staff member was off shift but very very drunk at the bar. Not a good look for an up market hotel.

Very enjoyable stay. Stunning hotel.

Liked: Stunning hotel with lots of character. Staff helpful. Beautiful grounds. Had a very enjoyable stay with family. Will definitely recommend the hotel to friends
Disliked: Can’t really think of anything to say as a negative. Maybe need bath mat inside bath/shower as was quite slippy.

Liked: Lovely grounds and ample parking. Large bedroom with two easy chairs (where often there is only one). En suite with a window which we appreciated.Good breakfast and nice to have a good restaurant on site.
Disliked: Some issues with plumbing. Main reception not manned for most of our stay and no contact number for spa reception available, though helpful when we went in person.

Liked: Peaceful location. Lovely building and lovely grounds
Disliked: Twice we had to request for requests to be carried out. Think it’s because things are written on scraps of paper and probably lost! Maybe a handover book would be better if requests are computerised. Apart from that we had a lovely stay and would stay there again if in that area.

Hidden Gem

Liked: Atmosphere was relaxed and the feel of the place was chilled. The spa was incredible. Staff amazing, the room was breathtaking. 100% recommended for a relaxing get-away that won't break the bank. The food was incredible and service impeccable.
Disliked: This is really nit picking and the only thing I would say I didn't like was no toilet paper in the public toilets and swimming costume drying machine was not working but these are things that had no impact on our stay.
