Liked: Location was great! Right across from Circus Circus and there was a great parade of classic cars that was fun to watch. Within a couple of blocks was an excellent Vietnamese restaurant, so we enjoyed a wonderful supper. Staff were polite and nice enough, and tried to be helpful. The room was very clean and was one that had been recently renovated. We didn't go to breakfast, so can't comment on that.
Disliked: Property is being remodeled a little at a time, but overall looks tired and dumpy. Office was being remodeled so had to walk through an opening created by the removal of some slats in a wrought iron fence you had to step through between two sides of the same building to a "different" motel to their office to register. Toilet wasn't working correctly, so the first person to flush got to use it and that was it. They sent maintenance right away (a good thing), but he didn't have parts to fix it and it was late in the evening, so we had to try to get the tank to fill by pouring glasses of water in it by hand. We may as well have been in what I would expect in a 3rd world country. We tried that method and it worked once, and then another part inside the toilet tank quit working and we were without a toilet altogether! We asked for another room but they said they were full. At check out I had to ask for a discount on the room due to broken toilet. I feel they should have offered that without me asking/insisting. The clerk who checked us out was not aware of the situation, which we feel the front desk should know, and explained in detail what parts were broken in the toilet. When I told the clerk I expected them to offer a discount under the circumstances, he said he would ask the manager and stood there waiting for us to leave, suggesting that if the manager was willing to give me a discount, it would just show up on my credit card statement when it came after I was back home and would have little recourse. I asked if the manager was on the premises, and the clerk called him. He offered 20 percent off the bill. The clerk computed the discount at 10 percent, so I had to correct him to get that applied correctly, but we still ended up paying what I thought was too much for a room with a broken toilet.
