Booking.com is a scam (see...
Liked: The hotel was fine, it was not their fault- Booking.com falsely advertised them.
Disliked: I booked this hotel on Booking.com because it was advertised as 0.5 miles from JFK Airport when I searched hotels close to JFK, and offered smoking rooms. In reality, it was over 11 miles away, taking more than an hour to reach in traffic—and the entire property is non-smoking.Booking.com left me on hold twice, for over an hour each time. I was disconnected, and despite promises to call back, no one ever did. When they finally allowed me to submit screenshots of the false listing, they never replied. Their outgoing calls even came up as “Scam Likely” on my phone. After doing a little digging, I found many falsely advertised property locations and amenity listings on their search pages, suggesting a systemic issue on Booking.com’s part. This experience violated multiple consumer protection laws, including:•New York General Business Law § 349 – deceptive business practices•NY GBL § 350 – false and misleading advertising•Federal Trade Commission Act § 5 – unfair or deceptive acts in commerce•Booking.com’s own Terms of Service, which promise resolution in cases of inaccurate listings. They refused to refund or relocate us, even after repeated requests. I’m filing formal complaints with the New York Attorney General, FTC, CFPB, BBB, and the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.Booking.com failed on every level. If something goes wrong, you are on your own. f you’ve experienced something similar with Booking.com, I strongly recommend contacting a consumer protection attorney or inquiring about a potential class action, as I have. This platform is unreliable and legally negligent.
