The Spotlight on Travel Inn

Simple Comfort Close to the Greensboro Music Scene

Modern? No. But Travel Inn delivers what matters most to concert-goers: a budget-friendly stay in a convenient location. Just off Interstate 85 and a short ride from major venues and attractions like Wet 'N Wild Emerald Pointe and downtown Greensboro, this no-frills hotel keeps your focus on the music—not your wallet.
Rooms are basic but clean, with cable TV (including HBO), a clock radio, and free local calls. You’ll find free coffee in the lobby and a quiet setting just far enough from the downtown buzz to get some rest after the encore.

Why Concert-goers love it

Travel Inn is just a quick drive to central Greensboro, making it easy to catch a show and get back to your room without hassle. While it’s not walking distance to most venues, its proximity to I-85 means rideshare pickups are fast and affordable. The 2 p.m. check-in is helpful for early arrivals, and an 11 a.m. checkout still lets you sleep in a bit after a late night out. With no rowdy bar scene onsite, it’s also a good pick if you're looking for some quiet after the amps fade.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a cheap place to crash
  • Solo travelers seeing a dream artist on a budget
  • Couples wanting a simple weekend stay
  • Fans seeking a quieter post-show recovery
  • Budget-conscious music fans who prefer to spend money on tickets, not lodging

Food and Drink Options

There’s no full restaurant at the hotel, but you’ll find fast food and local spots within a short drive. Free coffee is available in the lobby, and since there’s no set breakfast service, it’s best to plan on grabbing a bite elsewhere. Late-night dining options are limited nearby, so consider a post-show snack before heading back.

Nightlife Options

While Travel Inn doesn’t feature on-site nightlife or bars, it’s a short ride to downtown Greensboro’s thriving bar and music scene. Whether you’re looking for a dive bar to debrief after the show or a lounge with local brews, it’s easily accessible via rideshare or a designated driver.

What People Say

  • “Great value for the price” is a common theme across reviews
  • Guests appreciate the quiet location and easy highway access
  • Rooms are noted as basic but clean, with helpful staff
  • Some mention the hotel is surprisingly quiet given its location

Areas for Improvement

This isn't a luxury stay—no frills, no breakfast, and no extra amenities like gyms or pools. The decor is dated, and while the rooms are clean, they’re pretty minimal. But if you’re just here to sleep off the concert buzz, it does the job just fine.

The Bottom Line

Travel Inn is a solid, no-fuss choice for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without overspending.

Liked: The door could be locked I guess. It classified as a room.
Disliked: The "non-smoking" room smelled like it was the sole smoking room. Asked for more towels then the like two I was given and acted like I asked them for rubies.

Over all my stay Has...

Liked: The man working the desk that night was spectacular. I had haven a bad day AND he was just as sweet as he could've been. Not to mention it was furniture market time and rooms everywhere were outrageous. The desk clerk that night was surely awesome he Actually had me laughing and smiling before i left to go to my room, big turn around from the crying hysterical blubbering state that I had walked in with. He was fantastic. Even put me up front in one of the nicer more safe rooms,(in my opinion )which I appreciated so much. Since then I have asked for the same room every night and been blessed to receive my request. I also love that they are not rude about check out time too. Rodeway hotel where I stayed a month earlier, the people were rude. ANd had no customer service skills at all. I would recommend travel in to any of my friends and family the rooms are clean affordable and the staff is great too couldn't ask for .more for the price. I know ill be back.
Disliked: Could have been a little cleaner the 1st and second stay but since then I keep getting the room I know I cleaned prior I don't mind cleaning to my satisfaction but the 1st room 149 was awful I cleaned for 4 hours before I could sit down in there and the floor and walls were plum. Black and so was my cleaning rags that I do carry everywhere I go. But I am a little ocd so to some / most people it probably would have been ok 🤷
